View Full Version : Cooee's Fanart.

Let's be honest. My last thread wasn't really a reasonable excuse for fanart.
So, here's a new thread, with a new style of drawing worms, some reasonable time and effort spent, and complete with proper colour.
Now, I wasn't sure whether to start my thread with some cheap humour, or something more serious.
So, here's both. And sorry Paul, but it's just the look on your face from your stupidity thread. No disrespect meant whatsoever.
Both are a bit big (in part to my scanner), and so you'll have to click the links. That and one of them is my desktop background at the moment (it sets the colours on my custom theme off well).
Landscapes and Worms 1 - Tgworm searches the vast desert to rid the world of the sad moon. (http://img262.imageshack.us/img262/7481/landscapesandworms1tgwoes7.jpg)
Poot. (http://img249.imageshack.us/img249/9968/pootha7.jpg)
Enjoy (or puke away). Constructive criticism very welcome. I practiced a bit by drawing sigworms, so I may have a picture of one of yours (except yours Zero - the helmet stumped me and the best drawing I've got still looks a bit strange).

Great fan art! I like it a lot.
The first picture has a lot of effects like blur (which I think that they are not part of fan art), and the worms shape is excellent. Keep making pictures, also I compared them with your other fan arts in your previous thread, and the new are better.

You've got a nice style. You should just add some shading.

Neh, it looks fine w/o shading!
Good work! Practise a little more on tails, tough!

McMaster: The background was intended to give some atmosphere to the whole picture, and the moon needed to be in the sky. That and in the original hand-drawn copy there's supposed to be a boulder but I could never get the shading right. Thanks for looking at the old thread too.
Kelster: Thanks. I had a go at your sigworm, but the hair never looks quite right.
Paul: I'll be posting a blue tinted slorg up soon too. And don't worry, the smell will go away soon enough.
Yauhui: It's the eyes. I have three different variations of Tgworm's eyes on my computer, and that was the one that looked the most "right", but it's not as good as it probably should be, though I don't know how to rectify that. Shame really, as I got the moon's eyes first time.
Shadowman: I've got a drawing of you with some gentle fogging. I won't post it yet though. Shading's never been a strong point of mine, so I usually either end up blocking it or cheating with gradient shading.
Cisken: Tails, tails, tails. The Tgworm picture has the newer style of tail (without the enormous hump), whereas the Poot picture doesn't. I'm not sure which one you're referring to, or if it's both, then I'm not sure what to do.
Oh, and to demonstrate that point, here's a picture of Splapp. Yea it's a bit off, but it's better than the one I drew of Zero.
Splapp (http://img266.imageshack.us/img266/6128/splappbs0.jpg)
Nice.
Although the tongue shouldn't hand directly off the mouth. It should have a little bump still inside the mouth so that you can tell that it's coming from inside the mouth.
Don't use the circle/oval tool for anything other than exact circles. It makes ovals look too straight, so you'd be better off with just doing a circle by using the curve tool twice.
And yeah, I always found long hair hard to do on a worm. A good idea would be to draw a curve next to the eyes to start, and that'll be the edge of the hair.
And can I request? Preferably with Kelster?
Worm with black cape and metal hand.

Do you always request a picture of yourself and Kelster?
Some things are probably off, but I like this one because of the grin I gave you, so I'm posting it. Oh and a retouched Splapp one is here too. Next I'll post an Akuryou one (hopefully), because I had a go at making a laser-glowy-energy-beamy-thingy.

That's because nearly all the good artists don't take requests, and everyone already got the jokes done 15 months ago.

haha that's what I thought!
cooee345
15 Aug 2007, 22:35
ShadowLord: Colt's done. Just needs a disco-y background if I can do one, and you'll get to see him.
SupSuper and Kelster: Yes, that is indeed a dead flower. The drawing itself didn't even have it, and Kelster looked decidedly displeased at Plasma, but I replaced the frown with a slight smile in the end. That and one version had Plasma proposing with the droopy flower. But that'd be too clichéd.
Plasma and Pigbuster: If that's praise, then thanks, but I wouldn't say that I'm a particularly good fanartist, just one with good English and decent skills. If that on the other hand, was not praise but a criticism, then I'll try to make my art better.
Oh and Pigbuster, love the Symphony (that was not sarcasm).
And now, a Pigbuster meets T17F's Slorg picture. A bit of an old one, but I redid bits of it, so here it is.
Pigbuster gets stunned by the owning power of the T17F slorg. (http://img339.imageshack.us/img339/5628/slorgownar2transrespbneuk1.jpg)
Oh yes. Requests are welcome. But some'll take more time than others. And I reserve the right to reject any (noobish or otherwise, though it's mainly for the noobish ones) requests.
Wait a second. That Slorg looks angry!
You should know better than that! Slorgs are always, always happy!
In the off chance that a slorg is unhappy, then God help us all!

In the off chance that a slorg is unhappy, then God help us all!No-one ever said Slorgs had to always be happy.
They just tend to get drawn that way by me because I don't like to pass up opportunities to trace things :p

Hmm...
I propose that a dead (black) flower be a symbol of our relationship!
...
I mean mine and Kelter's relationship. I amn't very interested in you.
Plasma and Pigbuster: If that's praise, then thanks, but I wouldn't say that I'm a particularly good fanartist, just one with good English and decent skills.
Nowadays, that's good enough!
All the really really good artists don't seem to make art that much anymore...

OK, so I request to be drawn. My sigworm is a simple worm with a bishop, I mean the bishop from Worms 4. See my profile in my signature by clicking "McMaster's Profile".
cooee345
16 Aug 2007, 19:30
Plasma: Perhaps the unhappy slorg is a foreboder to a preview of a possible plotline I may or may not be pursuing.
Paul: Passing up opportunities to trace things is like wasting paper. That and all my fanart is actually paper drawn and then traced, so I kinda can't avoid tracing.
Plasma: Oops, I phrased that wrongly. In one idea the other hand was supposed to have a box with a ring in it. However, with another, I thought that the flower alone would do, for you can't win someone with all the money in the world if you're a grumpy old codger (well... there are exceptions :P).
McMaster: Don't worry, I won't do the worm with a chess bishop thing. I suggest that in future you call it a Bishop's hat rather than just a bishop.
And, ShadowLord, Colt is done. I wasn't happy with the background I did, so it's backgroundless.

I'm pretty sure I'm the only one that ever did that.
On an on topic note, I like your style, just not the upper lip or the eyes. You're got basic shape going well. The eyes I wouldn't mind, but they're not really round for circley eyes. Try to make your hand shake less.
cooee345
17 Aug 2007, 22:20
Shadowman: Yes, you were the only one who did, but it was still hilarious. The upper lip: that it's a bit big, that the line of the forehead crosses over, or both? The eyes, yea, they seem to turn out a bit angular whenever I outline them on the computer. You're right, but I'm not sure what I can do about that without taking steroids to make my hand more stable.
McMaster: Drawn and scanned. Not outlined yet till I figure out how to get less angular eyes.
hdhdhd: Just read that, so it'll have to wait a bit.
And here's a bit of a filler, one of Akuryou (complete with angular eyes and crossover lip/head lines - a bit old - 5 days ish). Jazzy fireball/laser-y effects.

Nice fire effect. how'd you get it?

I've gone and had another look at my style.
And this is what came out. A craply shaded worm. Oh well. Atleast it has bigger, rounder eyes, more room for headstuffs and expressions. It's a pencil sketch, with the background deleted so I could annotate and also because there were some eraser markings.
So, all requested work has been made obselete. I will get around to doing both of your pictures in due course, just maybe in the new style, maybe not.
Oh yea, and the fire's a glowy/blurry thing. I was going to make it purple, but it didn't look quite right.

Thanks Paul. I'll keep digging at this Fan Art thing then. Constructive criticism seems hard to come by these days.
This one's a bit of an in-between styles picture. Eyes of style 6, body of 5, and lip of 5. Yes McMaster, here's an image you can put on your character profile too.

Style 7's coming, as I don't think the lip is pronounced enough in the last picture I posted. That and the head's maybe a bit too tall.
Err... Teeth are supposed to be fairly straight, y'know.

Ahem. Please don't post your own art in this thread. Please edit your post.
I still have to redo a McMaster, finish a hdhdhd, and do something else which I haven't decided whether or not doing it is a good idea yet.
I could probably make a doodle. Also, Paint.NET does not a good artist make. A good artist makes themself. Not that I'm a good artist, but I got the impression that you thought that Paint.NET makes art better.

It reminds me of The Simpsons.
But I think the tail on that last one could be a bit longer.
I think the tails fine.
The hands could be a bit more... curvy. I find hands tough to get right, but it can make a difference. Regarding the Aku and Plasma pictures at the top of the page, I think the one of Aku looks much better due to the head shape. I've personally started giving worms bulb-shaped heads, the long thin tube head that Plasma's got is something I used to do too.
