I can't host.
I used to be able to host a year ago with my router, forwarding the ports
TCP: 80, 6677
UDP: 17010, 17011, 17012
I tried every solution available in every other decent thread about ports, and the only available explanation is that because I am using a CD image , I can't host.
I can join games but not host.
Please tell me how to fix this. I don't wanna use the CD, it's way too noisy, and I mostly play at nights after 2 o clock.

I have the latest update . I use windows xp sp2 media center 2005 edition.
I can port forward in anything else, except WA!

You have probably forwarded ports on a router that has dynamic ip assignment for local lan enabled. Rightclick My Network, click the properties, then rightclick on Local Area Connection and click on Status to check the ip address you get locally from your router. Then check your router setup and find out that the ports were forwarded to another internal ip. Chance and your done. Yo only need to forward tcp 17011 btw, all other forwards can be deleted.

Um, your data is all wrong.

All you need to forward is port 17011, TCP. UDP ports or ports 80/6667/6677 don't have to be forwarded.

Also, to make use of http://canyouseeme.org/ , you need to be hosting a game (Direct IP is fine) when checking if the ports are forwarded on that website (minimize W:A after you hosted a game).

Well if the port is forwarded then I can still check if its forwarded even before I host a match right?

Can I use console with ipconfig to see my default gateway ?
Is that my static IP?Because I do use dynamic IP with my router.

I put my latest dynamic IP address to the forwarding and still, when i host, my port 17011 cant be seen as i witness here

Well if the port is forwarded then I can still check if its forwarded even before I host a match right? No, not always. There has to be a program "listening" on your side of the port - although some routers "pick up" the incoming connection even before checking if there's a program listening on your computer.

You should check if you have DHCP enabled. To do that, open "Network connections", open your LAN connection's properties, select TCP/IP and click Properties, and check that it is set to "Use the following IP address:"... (instead of "Obtain an IP address automatically").

I can't find that which you are citing.
I am sharing my network with another PC and I am using a dynamic IP.
I am using the router as a router , not a modem.

Okay sorry for doubleposting,
fixed the '' illegal '' thing, it was caused by my putting the same port number into all three boxes when only two were needed.

My 17011 TCP port cant be seen though.

OK, first of all, judging by the second screenshot DHCP is turned on. DHCP is a system that gives you an IP every time you connect to your router (every time you turn on your computer). You must turn it off to forward ports, or your LAN IP will keep changing and you will have to re-forward ports every time.

To turn off DHCP, go to the dialog in your second screenshot. Click "Use the following IP address". Enter these IPs:
IP address: 192.168.178.23
Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
Default gateway: 192.168.178.1

Preferred DNS server: 192.168.178.1

Click "OK". Restart your computer if needed.
If you lose Internet connectivity after doing the above, set it back to "Obtain an IP address automatically" and "Obtain DNS server address automatically". You should ask your ISP about your DNS server.

Next, open your router settings. The settings you specified are OK, except "through port" should also be 17011 and "To IP address" should be 192.168.178.23 .

So I have a static IP address now. Okay
Now my port can be seen but noone seems to log onto my game.
Wait when my friend logs into msn I ll tell him to join me to see if I can host.

Don't forget to uncheck "Force IP" in the W:A network options. Since the latest Beta, you don't need it any more.

If by any chance I wanna have a dynamic IP at times, I can still put ''automatically retrive IP'' or something and then get back to what you said right ?

The "dynamic IP" setting will only affect your internal IP (the one that starts with 192.168....). This setting has no effect on your external IP. No one can find out what your internal IP is, and only your ISP decides if your external IP is static or dynamic. So, there's no reason to use DHCP in this case :)

Most ISPs provide you with a dynamic IP address, assigning you a new one whenever you connect. Static IP addresses normally cost extra.
(At least that's how my ISP handles my xDSL connection.)

hmm I'll try all this stuff as well, I made my own thread but I see its all been said before!

Ive tried all the above and it still wont work. It still says "connection timed out" when I try canyouseeme.org..... This is the most annoying thing ever, I dont know about computers but I've done everything here and it STILL wont work, its so annoying, it really is so ****ing annoying it makes you want to smash the **** out of everything and as im typing I can feel my presses getting harder and harder and I can feel the stress swelling up inside me and I WANT TO SMASH UP THIS KEYBORAD AND KICK THE COMPUTERS HEAD IN. PLLLLEAASEE HEEELP MEEE!!!! (I could host FINE before... and NOTHING has been changed).

dude i felt the same way , it's very, very annoying.But i got help from this post and the others. (mainly by this post)
It's probably the same problem as mine, the static IP thing. I used the instructions given here and I fixed my friends problem in Britain.

Maybe your modem got a brainlag in time, ever thought about just buying a new one? :p Manufacturers also tend to make firmware updades for those things, and sometimes even a stupid reset will do the job (some modems loose WAN settings then, others don't, so beware what u do)

And here another example on how to setup your router.... 7 simple steps, with a SMC router.

1: Rightclick the network icon on your desktop and click on the Properties

2: Rightclick your network connection and click on Status. Make a note of your local ip address and the Default Gateway address. Also click on the Details button if you whish to know your MAC address (Physical Address) for a static IP setup (needed for some routers, others are more userfriendly).

3: Open your webbrowser and type in the address bar the Gateway IP number. For your convenience, here are some links to popular default router IP's. Just click on the corresponding one if you see it already listed here, and your router wil popup in another window:

http://192.168.1.1 http://192.168.1.100 http://192.168.1.254

4: Login to the beast. Might require some travelling through huge piles of old manuals and computer parts or boxes, because these things tend to be passworded. If you can't find your manual, surf to the manufacturers website and get the pdf version ;)

5: On my router, I have the Firewall disabled. Somehow it won't work if that thing is on.

6: The NAT module is enabled though.

7: Now 'port forwarding' is something they never heard of at SMC, so they called it Virtual Server. In here its a matter of entering the last digit of your private IP address, and the port. And done! Next, put the External IP which can be read at the Status window in Worms and you should be able to host....

Make sure at the LAN settings the option LeaseTime is set to Forever, and it will assign static IP's automatically. On other routers you might have to assign your IP manually, or even have to write the MAC address in some field.
If you don't make a static IP connection for your pc in the router, you might loose the current internal ip address over a while. That's when you suddenly can't host anymore, while yesterday it still worked.

Static and Dynamic IP is a bit tricky. Usually the static IP you specify for your pc HAS to be outside the DHCP pool given from the router. So if your router has a DHCP pool for the addresses 192.168.1.100 to 192.168.1.254 then make sure your static ip is in the range 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.1.99. However, some routers put the static ip in the DHCP pool automatically (and you can't do anything about it), which is in my eyes a bug. If that is your case, you might have to look for a firmware update or a router that knows how to handle network traffic.
