It's just a sound for heaven's sake. Plus it only lasts a couple of seconds.
rope sounds are even shorter. but I hate them and i deleted them.
anyway, i did a quick scan for wav with name "login" "net" "welcome", both in installation path and cd, no results.
It's ..\Data\User\Fanfare\Worms!.wav on the CD.
You could use the fileoverride module from CyberShadow's Wormkit and place a blank dummy Worms!.wav in the fanfare folder on the HDD.
Many moons ago I have suggested for the patch that we get full, separate control of all sounds in the game.

oh okay problem solved i guess

I will have to look into this. Thank you so so much!! :D

One that I find VERY annoying. Especially when playing music. And when you log into Wnet as much as I do... well.....
I think you get the picture. Why are you even posting in my thread??? Waste of time for you, my friend.

its not working for some reason does the filesize have to be the same?
has to be the same format, well, it can be a variety of formats but its just easier to say "use the original files format"
its not working for some reason does the filesize have to be the same?
Check the properties of the file.
It has to be a PCM wave file with certain bitrate and sampling rate.

everything is the same as the file beforehand
its wormkit thats not working... I dont know what I did wrong but wormkit DOES NOTHING for me.

did you creat structure of E:\Worms Armageddon\DATA\ must be like that of the CD in order for the game to use that file instead of the one on the cd.
Did you copy wkfileoverride.dll from the modules folder to the wa root dir?

place the file in E:\Worms Armageddon\Data\User\Fanfare

ok I figured out that the fanfare folder isn't the same one as for the wnet login. but I was able to add some cool fanfare sounds. :)

so does my folder have to be in C:/WA to work... mines in program files.
C:\Program Files\Worms Armageddon\Data\User\Fanfare
or where ever the game is installed

ok I have one in user\fanfares\ and data\user\fanfares so my bases are pretty well covered
In any case wnet should be the first menu, so neither the modules work. wkfileoverride and wkwnetwhatever
is the sound file your plcing in "C:\Program Files\Worms Armageddon\Data\User\Fanfare" the exact same type with the same name as the file you wish to replace? (bitrate, sample rate, channels, etc.?)

Yes The Problem Is The Dlls Do Not Work
Are you running wormkit.exe or wa.exe?
do you run wormkit? or do you run wa.exe?
already asked it muzer.
WormKit modules don't really work with the latest update (3.6.28). They worked with 3.6.26.5.
If you want to turn off that sound, delete it from your CD image using a disc-image-editing program like MagicISO.
An even-better way to do it would be to edit WA.exe and change the string which defines the path to "Worms!.wav" so that the game can't find the file. That requires much more work for a common user to figure out, though.

#We are Worms, we're the best, and we've come to win the war...#
Heck, I have that sound as my fanfare.

That's not true... only wkReplayShark and wkMagic1 were version-dependant, and wkReplayShark got updated to 3.6.28.0.
You can use the rest of the modules on any W:A version, and some - like wkFileOverride or wkAntiKeyboardHook - will work with any Windows program.

Tempted to agree with that, but then I have a handy button on the side of the laptop that lets me mute all sound when a good song's on and I don't want it interrupted. Would be trickier to pull off if I was listening to music on the laptop, though, I suppose. :o
Today I realized why I actually like the WNet login sound:
It quickly tells me if the music playing in Winamp is too loud or to quiet.
There's often some MP3s that considerably differ in volume...

I figured out that when you use the original worms cd file override doesnt do anything to solve this problem but when I use my backup copy the wormnet sound doesn't play!! Yay!! :)
note: I didn't take the worms!.wav sound off the backup cd. It's a straight copy.
Don't know why this happens but nice not to hear that sound from now on.

You know, people don't usually like it when you bump a thread that's 5 months old.

He has just provided a solution (or possibly a bug with a useful result). That's a perfectly valid and useful reason to bump a thread.
