As long as you keep the brush size the same, your lines will always be the same thickness.

Keeping the spacing between the lines is fairly straigtforward. Just find the option to turn grid lines on. Then just follow the gird lines with the line tool.

You could also start off with a grid of squares or rectangles [open a new image, draw a thin "stroke" around it, "define pattern", then use the pattern stamp tool on a blank image the size of your map] and build from there, although that approach usually results in fairly linear tunnels that some people out there consider a little boring. 96 × 96 pixels is what I used for the few regular size RR's I made.

But yah, once you gain some experience in tweaking the shape of the tunnels and come up with a few original obstacles, it isn't too hard to make the thing interesting to rope through. And as with everything, practice über alles.

I remember there has been some program available which could create straight-forwarded RRs within only a few seconds. My memory could fool me, though.

Ah yes. I think I had that a while ago. It can only create fairly basic RR maps though and they aren't very original.

RR Gen is indeed pretty awesome if what you're after is a fair serious game of RR.

You can use the grids found in this (http://files.xnr.be/f16f4e80dc63dd913808e5b7a502ad35.psd) file. It has all the tunnel sizes from 50px to 100px in jumps of 5. Just pick one and set it's brightness to 25%.
