Just right-click on the map display, and you will be taken to W:A's map editor.

if you wish to draw your own then use mspaint and draw it :P then download and open GIMP, click the "image" then "mode" then "indexed" set the colours to less then 113 and turn off dithering. (hit ok)

now save it and when saving it, save it as a PNG file and untick any boxes in the export dialog if it needs to be exported.

I've added some instructions to http://worms2d.info/Colour_map for MS Paint and PhotoShop. GIMP has some problems with dithering images, I believe.

EDIT: Added a GIMP "tutorial".

yes, but if you start with a already made map, you wont need dithering ;)

The ability to load and use colour maps online was added in a Beta update (http://worms2d.info/Beta_updates_(Worms_Armageddon)), which wasn't created by Team17. Deadcode has been meaning to write a Photoshop tutorial for some time, but never got to it (and I outsped him on it).

While we're on the topic, you can consider the Worms Knowledge Base as a semi-official website, operated by the W:A maintenance developers (me and Deadcode). It is already mentioned in the Beta ReadMe.

Why can't I play these 2 maps:

http://9dfriwoe.9d.funpic.de/img/w5w.PNG
and
http://9dfriwoe.9d.funpic.de/img/Test.PNG

??

I did everything they said at the "The Gimp Tutorial".

And the Map Size is divisible by 8.

So.. What's Wrong??

The first one is paletted with 50 colours, the second with 2 colors...

Pls Help

Er... the first map is not divisible by 8. Looking in to the second one...

??

1920 : 8 = 240
952 : 8 = 119

and in the second map

1920 : 8 = 240
1000 : 8 = 125

Edit: Sry for 2 posts, but hurrel deleted his post while i wrote this one

Yeah, firefox had the images scaled down, giving 500 and 525 as map heights. But to actually answer the question for you, the palette size needs to be at least 64 by my count. You don't need 64 colours obviously, the palette size needs to be between 64 and 113 I think.

These images are not 8-bit PNGs, but are instead 4-bit and 1-bit ones. I don't think GIMP allows you to specify the pixel format. You can try adding more colours...

Ok ty
i didn't know that there must be more colours than 64...

I remember having had this issue as well. I ended up simply adding a gradient somewhere to reach the required amount of colours.

What do i have to do, if i want to make a map, where is everywhere black background?
This map http://wmdb.org/5365 ... It is paletted with 112 colours. 111 times black and one white.
What do i have to do, that everyone who plays the map has a black background??

http://worms2d.info/Colour_map

this explains the limitation with the # of colours. if you have more then X amount then you will be modifing some colours to do with the background etc.

i read this about thousand times but i cant find, what i have to do that the background is black. Maybe my english is too bad. And Online-translators are very bad, too...

I have really to make a pallette with 112 different colors???

GoDxWyvern

I might be wrong, but if I remember correctly, W:A treats equal colours as only one. Either try it out or wait for someone more competent to reply. ;)

franpa

it doesnt treat equal colours as one. only the first black in the palette is treated as transparent.

you can have up to 113 colours and make them all black if you want... its just hard to draw a map while its like that lol.

so... draw your map first THEN change its palette to all black.

my bad. as of v3.6.19.12 Beta Update (2004.02.11) the first colour in the palette doesnt need to be black. you do need black as a colour still, it just doesnt need to tbe the first in the pallete.
