Quick walkthrough for you.
1) Make sure you have the latest patch installed (3.6.28.0), you can roll your mouse over the main menu logo and see what it says at the bottom of the screen, that is your version number.
2) From the main menu, click the bottom left image (multiplayer).
3) Enter your name into the box in the center of the screen that comes up.
4) Click on the top right button to access WormNet
5) Double click autologin (Passwords don't exist)
6) Welcome to the WormNet lobby.
7) Most games are played in the "Anything Goes" area, so double click that.
8) From there you should be able to see a list of games, double click one to join.

It is important to remember that a lot of the games played online are very different to anything you've played offline. This link (http://worms2d.info/Schemes) will tell you more about the schemes that are often played. If you are not sure it is strongly recommended you ask the host for advice.

Most games online require you to be quite fast with the ninja rope, try and game and you will see what I mean. Every game has a spot for at least one spectator, so you could ask just to watch a match to see how it is played first.

I know that's a lot of information, but please ask again if you're lost. :)

You don't need to install the v3.0 patch.
If it's needed and you have an internet connection, the v3.6.28.0 installer will automatically do it for you.

I have installed only v3.6.28.0 Update but when i click on autologin message display: FATAL ERROR DURING GAME SERVER CONNECTION, DISCONNECTING...

Help me please...
