Yes, I also have database errors, are they doing something with the forum?

I don't know if of my last visit (27 July) happened any database errors because I was on holiday...

An administrator or a moderator should answer this question!

Most likely the database got corrupted some how (causing the DB errors) late on Friday night, and volc. was unable to fix it until he came into work on Monday morning.

The more probable answer:
A beer guzzling accident when the Teamsters started guzzling beer at the T17 HQ last Friday before going to the pub for the weekend.

Muzer

i.e. they spilled beer in the database, so it got drunk and had a 2-day hangover somehow :p

No. That used to be the case in the distant past, but now they always know better and pay extra for waterproof computers.

It was offline one day, then it was fine the next, then for 3 more straight days I was getting a Database Error. It was not just IE, but also Safari.

I am glad the problem was fixed.

You're not alone, actually.

I felt a sense of calm when they were gone.

Now it's back to a sense of ANGER. :p

Errr, you lot do realise that database errors are totally independent of the internet browser that you are using.

Database errors mean exactly that - there is an error in the database which holds all the forum data, meaning it cannot load the page you requested, therefore trying in another browser is a total and utter waste of time.

Although having the forum down for 3 days meant that there was 3 days less spam in FanArt.

That was the eye of the storm!
The good news is that we're already half-way through the horror we know as 'Team17 forum'!

After that, I predict all the senior forumers will have realised there is such a thing as life. They will then become multi-millionaires, yet nobody could understand how. All the other forumers will have immigrated to myspace, where they will remain until their mental age drops to below 8 years old and they forget how to speak English.
Wigwam, beginning to get bored of life, will try much harder to persue his life-long ambition! He has been missing for three months now and is presumed dead.
Cisken will have been divorced four times, even though he only married twice.
Kelster and I will have married and moved to Japan. However, the main reason for that is that we will have been banned from ever stepping foot in both Americas, Europe, and Africa.
Kilburn will have died at the age of 33, in a freak accident working on a new invention. That accident will also have disintegrated half of the country of France, but so far, nobody has noticed.
Phliby will have also died when trying to change a lightbulb in his house. His family now regret not buying him a monkey-on-a-pole to do it for him.
Franpa will have been secretly replaced with a mannequin doll. His boss reports his productivity rate to have skyrocketed since then.
Andrew, not being able to moderate this forum anymore, will simply fade out of existance, as will Bonz. Thomas will have gotten by as a world-famous critic, but will have given up on all computers when he became aware that the Mac did indeed suck.
As for this post itself, it will have it's content removed and replaced with 'I LIEK TEH GAEY!' when the forum is hacked in 2012. Noboy will care.

Oh how little you lot know about me :p I sincerely hope that does not come true, as it would have been a waste of an unrelated degree and 4 years at university.

It was just puzzling on the first day because it gave me the error on IE and yet it worked on Safari at the same time. I knew that the problem was not on my side because of the type of error.

But why are we still posting in this thread?
The answer has been told already.
Not really...

Officially, the database blew up, ironically, when it was being backed up.

Unofficially, it's being blamed on the fanart forum.

It's seems to be less frequent now, but I used to compleatly stop activity in about 80% of the threads I posted in by just posting.

Anyone care to explain why this happened?
