I like the worms and so does almost everyone who is on this site and I think it would be cool if they made a worms movie called... Worms:total Anialation
It would be a video with all the wacky comedy and it would be rated PG. I think somone should make a big motion picture because of the following reasons:

1) It would premote worms games everywhere.
2) It would make lots of people happy to see those wacky worms in a big movie that lasts At least 1 hour and 45min.

anyone care to add ideas then feel free to do so :)

A Worms movie wouldn't work because the game doesn't lend itself well to a story (as Worms 4: Mayhem proves with it rather rubbish time travel plot). A movie based on the original Wormsong might be nice, but you'd have difficult stretching that to an hour and a half.

I would like to see a nicely-animated 2D short film to accompany the original version of the Wormsong, but I don't really see it happening.

There's just been a thousand threads of this as it is - will people please refrain from making more, and just pop open the damn search box? It's there for a reaon.

And no, Worms movie would be lousy.

Anialation, what the hell?

I don't think it is good idea. Years passed after the first Worms, it is too late to make a movie, and really a stupid idea. Worms fight in a movie?

I looked in the search box after I made this tread and there wasn't but one tread that said anything about a movie. although I didn't look through the search very long.

maybe one of the guys from team17 could be a director. I know that seems stupid but they know there own game best so they would know a worms movie the best.

Big dfference: FF7 already had a backround and full story to begin with. Worms doesn't.

Well it wouldn't be any worse than current cartoony cg movies hitting the theaters. I would enjoy a movie with cg worms over real landscapes*, with just a lot of funny jokes and situations thrown in, even if it didn't have any real plot. It wouldn't be much different to Over the Hedge. Madagascar, Antz, Bugs, etc...

*Not to have them interact with real humans tough.

For your information, Jerry Bruckheimer is the director of all three CSIs, that is CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, CSI: Miami and CSI: New York.

that's all i know.

No. Although MtlAngelus has a point, it'll be hard to make a movie longer than an hour.

And it was pretty good. I guess the problem was that for characters, you used the sigworms of various forum seniors to play roles in the movie. Which wouldn't work so well in a big-screen production.

You know it doesn't have to have any relation with the game other than the design of worms and the weapons used, so it can be longer than an hour. The story could be something original, or just your average funny war movie with lots of cliches and war jokes. And it'd still work fine, if the jokes are funny enough. They could also go so far as to making something epic. Just because there is no backstory in the game to justify a movie, doesn't mean a movie would be a bad thing.
Doom had a backstory... Thomb Raider had a backstory... and they both sucked.

What about the Simpsons movie? it doesnt have a background; every tv episode is different. and it's such a big hit: US$11.6million.

18 Aug 2007, 14:18
the movie wasnt anywhere related to ANY of the tv episode's storyline.

Squirminator2k
18 Aug 2007, 17:27
And the TV show doesn't have a consistent storyline. What it does have are a wealth of characters, most of whom got at least minimal screentime in the movie, and a town's worth of locations.

Nice picture, does anyone know how to do a flash movie?

Metal Alex
21 Aug 2007, 18:16
The problem I see? there are not characters in the worm universe... as well as storyline.

I mean, doom has the storyline of "killing stuff", and since in Tomb Raider the character is a treasure hunter, the plot is totally open.

in worms... we have just a "creature".

Imagine a movie with lemmings... Or with Yoshys... (ok, Yoshys carring baby Mario seems like a plot...)

Yes they both Doom and Tomb Raider had a storyline, but they both sucked. So, how does that help? :p

And you don't need pre-stablished characters or storylines to make a movie out of a game.
You can just whip out your own new characters and a new storyline, and it'd still work. You can just make use of in game elements like the weapons available, and the design of the worms. As long as you come up with a good plot and characters, it will work as well as other cg cartoony movies, if not better.

I dont think Worms:Whatever would work as a movie, because like Metal Alex said, there's only one character.
Sure, they can have different hats/hairstyles/gloves/weapons. They could even have their names hovering above them. But it'll still look like the same worm wearing disguises, which would be really confusing. Besides, a lot of the references are in-jokes. How many of the general public would find an MB Bomb funny (at least, for the reason we do)?

Well, you can change attributes in the face of worms, eye size, colour, mouth heigh and size, eyebrow size/colour/style, hairstyle, other accesories, body size... pretty much anything, and they'd look as diverse as humans do... And it doesn't have to resort to in-jokes either...

the legend of boggy b counts as a story, though there's admittedly not much to it
