hi my w friends.

i'm here to ask some stuff that in my opinion is necessary to complete all fun with worms.

1 - is any kind of software to create games in lan (multiplayer) over linux or other server? i ask that to have one server 24h online serving worms games :P

2 - and last, to fun with my friends, any kind of ranking software for multiplayer? best score, ....

both questions are for worms world party or worms armagedon.

both are planned i think, hostingbuddy will host games for people that ask it (it is a robot) and ranking is planed in a future update.

WaR is a memory modifier, that allows emulation of ranks.

HostingBuddy is provided by a W:A developer and is currently in a limited mode due to it still being buggy.

I think vcpt wants to host his own wormnet, I'm not too sure this is the best place to ask as this is the official forum, not that I can help you, though.

About the ranking software, there is none to aid you, however Worms Armageddon has rank support, it is not enabled and it is not secure (not that it matters since afaik you want a private server), you'd need to edit the code in your server to enable it.

I don't know why you would want to do this, you can play in wormnet and you could make a private league (external to WA) or use one of the already present WA leagues, you and your friends (www.laenel.nl/fb).

Some ranking software is all we want to save score, we have some people that say "i'm the best in the ****ing world..bla bla bla" some ranking define that.

other cool stuff, like irc stats that exist, save what people write, most words, and cool stuff.

in worms team17 need to do some like this, best score, best player, best player last X days, bad player, most kid player, most gay player, ... well, some cool stats to make the game more fun

There are plans to reintroduce secure and fair rankings, it (probably) won't be around for a long time, but it is in the works.

If you want to host direct to your friends, you can always do Direct IP games.

I have an idea for the game. How about some sort of point score that has rankings and stuff in it.

So when u win a game, u get points and if u lose then you lose points. I think it would be good as, this game doesn't really have very much point unless your leaguing. Almost every other online game has some sort of point score or something that you can earn and i think worms should aswell, so people actually want to win the games, instead of wanting to win for no reason at all.

Maybe 3 points for a win and you lose 1 point for a loss..

WaR won't work as it only gives you points when you create/play/ a game in wormnet, it's not what you're asking for.

If I understand you correctly you want a program to keep a record of your wins and loses against your friends, how about a pen and a paper? Or a website?

we think that is a nice feature (like countert strike has, and other LAN games)

worms + ranking = lot of fun with more competition

You're silly.

The ranking stuff you are asking for does not exist, I offer you alternatives and you keep coming back to how Ranks are better than my alternatives, tough luck, ranking is disabled and I doubt you have the necesary skills to enable them on a private server, so use a pen and a paper, an online worms league or stop asking the same question over and over.

He basically ignored what I was telling him and that's when I told him to use my methods (in a more direct way) because they're the ones that make sense, he clearly doesn't know much about the game, so even if it sounded as if I was forcing him to use the methods I offered it was only to aid him, I don't blame him for not trusting me, he clearly doesn't believe I'm offering him the best alternative, he will rather just wait like you offered him because he feels you're fighting on his side.

Sadly for him, you offered him an alternative and he took it, out of all the options offered in this thread the one you gave him and he took is probably the dumbest one, as he will rather wait years than believe me.

Wormnet servers can be hosted with my WormNet, avaliable on worms.thecybershadow.net. You must also modify WA\Graphics\ServerLobby\Serverlist.html and add a link to your server on that.

That WaR thing u speak of, is a ranking thing. I was thinking a point score thing.

Online, there are leagues.
Offline, the game has a point system built in to it, it's by your team names.

If you want details amongst friends, pen and paper works wonders.
If you want kills and killed, those are in the statistics area, via options menu.

Surely that's all you need.

Then what's different between the in game point system and what you want? The ranking system that I believe is planned for Version 4 is not going to have details on individual worm kills, it will probably be similar to what is already in the game.

If you want that in game system to only apply to your friends during "tournament" matches, then just create secondary teams for matches that count.
