View Full Version : Xbox worms in comparison to PC
i played worms on the xbox at a friends house the other day....i thought it was no match to the pc counterpart...but what do u guys think?
some things i think are not good:
less weapons than on comp
barrels dont blow up like on W:A
ninja rope is weird...when you release the worm flies too far lol
apart from these things the game is really good, being a worms game it has to be good :D

More weapons and options would extend the life of the game but usually the people who complain about the lack of weapons, don't really like the worms gameplay in the first place, so they would get bored of the new weapons pretty quick. I don't mind the current weapon set, makes for a more balanced/strategic game but of course I wouldn't complain if they added new weapons.
I agree that the barrels were better when they exploded fire droplets. It added more unpredictability to the game, which often resulted in amusing events.
The ninja rope is weird, of course the old rope is better for rope games but for the original style of play, it's bit too powerful, just like the jetpack, it could get you to your opponent too easily. Now there's more use of grenades and long range weapons. You can still use the rope, it's just a lot harder and you can't be sure that you can get over that edge. You stick to the ground when you throw yourself from the new rope, so there's less chance of having your worm slide off an edge on the landing.

In this case, my personal opinion is that Less is More.
All the additional stuff in previous versions of the game didn't make it better, it just made them accessible for people who didn't really like the kind of game Worms is, or at least was... when it was first born.

Remember, they're different games.
well....they're different games in that they have different names but really there's not much difference between any worms games apart from graphics (3D and newer compared to first games) and very slight difference in weapons

Well, there are as you say a lot less weapons in this game, and they do handle quite differently, so I wouldn't say the differences there are slight. If you like W:A more because it has more weapons and a less challenging ninja rope then so be it, that's your bag. XBLA Worms has advantages over W:A and the like that other people enjoy, such as its simplicity, control method, integration with voice chat and rank system. I like both games for their own reasons, but I don't prefer to play one over the other. I play whatever takes my fancy or whatever's most convenient.

There's some listed differences in this post.
The Xbox version doesn't come close to Worms Armageddon, the main bonus it that's its easy to pick up and that it has rankings. But it's inferior in everything else and anyone disagreeing is deluded.
f you like W:A more because it has (...) a less challenging ninja rope
Right. Um. What?
XBLA Worms is a modern, casual take on the original Worms title, it is not a port, rewrite or otherwise of Armageddon, a title that came 4 years after the original. Whilst WA remains very popular, the amount of options, weapons and complexities are sometimes too much for casual players (which is where this title is positioned).
Thanks for feedback though, it doesn't go un-noticed.
IS WA 2d or 3d , cant remember, for me the 2d games are far far far better.
oh yes ;) and this Xbox Live title is perfect. (except for the people quitting out of ranked games not losing that is)

W:A is 2D. Worms 3D (obviously), Worms Forts Under Siege and Worms 4 Mayhem are the only 3D games at present.
Remember, the 2D games and the 3D ones are different games.

Will team 17 have plans to release WORMS for PS3 and PC?
Worms (as in the XBLA one) will appear on 360 only.

Am I the only one who can whip rope swing myself up on ledges? I still haven't seen anyone else do it.
Just absolutly love hearing the reaction when I do it.
Or, the laughter when I miss occasionaly and end up on a mine or in the water.
I've played the PC game, and while it's fun to use skunks, and old ladies, napalm, etc, this balance is nice. Everyone does seem to miss the Holy Hand Gernade though...

That's because it's a "n00b weapon."
