I opened a thread which I'll post my own computer drawed comics with worms. I'll post many comics with different stories each one. I hope you'll enjoy them!

Comic 1 : Worms That They Work With Stupids

http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l279/antonism96/Comic1WormsThatTheyWorkWithStupids.jpg

Next comic : Forgotten Weapons

(Sorry I can't draw well but I'm not an expert at computer drawing! And they are my first fanarts!)

Also you can post your own comic. It must have 4 pictures in each comic, it must be at 800x600 pixels and it must be drawn in Microsoft Paint.

Here's a lot to be improved:

1. Make sure the separation lines between the squares are right - yours are all oddly formed.

1. You'll need to improve the shape of your worms. Take a look at some others work to get the drift. There are tutorials for the subject as well.

3. The humor is extremely simple and predictable. You know what's going to happen right from the second frame. You'll just have to read others comics and stuff to get yourself inspired.

4. Please don't use Paint. It's not really good for drawing. Paint.NET is better, and it's free.

5. Make sure the speak-bubbles are round, and not polygonal. Also, draw your text first and the bubble afterwards to make the text fit.

And the headline made no sense to me.
Now this would be a lot to work on, and it won't happen overnight, and it will require a lot of practice, but in the meantime you could experiment with drawing on paper.

Good luck! ;)

Not too bad...
Though straightened lines for panel seperation would make a big difference, along with the text bubble shape like Nugget said.

...I actually like everything about this apart from the eyebrows. They look like mickey mouse ears, and I think it would be better if there were no ears at all.

The roughness of everything adds to it, I think.

Also, you used proper grammar, which makes me quite happy.

Come on, Paul, back me up hereI have no objection to using in-game graphics for comics in principle. If someone can come up with jokes that work and work well using just the in-game graphics, then more power to them. However, this is rarely the case.

McMaster
14 Jun 2007, 18:58
I prefer to draw my comics by myself. I don't find good idea to make comics by in-game pictures. If you want to do something in the comic but you can't do this in the game? For example, in the fourth picture of my first comic when the worm is killing the other worm, then and the worm which kills the other will be killed because in worms that happens when you shoot someone too close! But I had to put them close because there won't be a dialog. We can't talk if we are too far away from the other. (unless if we talk to the phone) So I want to make things in my comics that they aren't in the game, like yappydog said. So that's why I prefer drawing my comics in my computer.

Plasma
14 Jun 2007, 19:35
By the way, McM, you might find it a good idea to take a worms sprite and draw your worms based directly on that. Especially for that bazooka!

I have no objection to using in-game graphics for comics in principle. If someone can come up with jokes that work and work well using just the in-game graphics, then more power to them. However, this is rarely the case.
Perhaps, but if someone can come up with jokes like that, they're able to get away with drawing their worms to look like sausages that were made with an alan key(sp?) in them!

McMaster
14 Jun 2007, 19:39
This is a bit difficult. And I think if I do this, then the bazooka won't fit with the comic.

I'm thinking about it now. Maybe I'll try it in my next comic or my first one. I don't know. But I'll try this, thanks Plasma for your advice.

Why you say this? I'm trying to improve the art. Do you think I'm not improving it? Why? And stop making comments only for art! Make comments for the humor of the comic, the dialog, you liked it or not. I'm trying to improve my art. Don't say it every time when a new comic arrives. Write comments and for another things. Comics' comments aren't only for art. Think of it.

Yes, but I want to tell something to everyone. I'm not a proffesional comic maker. I'm a simple person, who just wants to make comics and wants to share them with others. I can't make comics as a proffesional, I make them just for fun. And the art in comics that were made just for fun, doesn't counts. I make them just for fun, and not to show to others how I make comics.

Hell, why do you think this forum is called fan art? And not comic humor?

And you are not really trying to improve the art enough. It's not changing at all. Besides, in my opinion, i dont think the humor is too good. It is very plain, and lacks sense. It would even be funnier saying "LOL a plane!!!1!" than saying "This worm is flying too high." But i guess the danish people have a more diffirent taste of humor.

And why you say I must improve the art more? There aren't reasons, and so I can't improve the art more if I don't have reasons. I don't know what everyone wants to improve in my comics, so I'll leave the comics as I draw them. But since my first comic I have draw only 2 comics. I can't improve my art immediately!

And stop saying things if you don't know what happens with them.

And for my humor, do you think I'll improve it in my next comics? I can't, because each comic has it's own humor.

Yes, I must improve the style of drawing the weapons and worms.

But I find it a bit diificult to draw worms, I'm a lot of tries to get the best shape, to change the style of drawing worms I need practice and... time!

I'm trying to find a new way to draw worms. For now I use this style, until I'll change it. These are my first fanarts, I've never drawed worms before. But if you can, write the things I must improve, it will be much easier for me. Thank you for your comments, they are very helpful to me.

Because your style of drawing worms is still the same. You still need to make the tails thicker, the heads smaller, and outlines around the eyes.

Constructive criticism time!
Not to be rude, but that worm looks like a discarded sock.
If I were you, I'd go for a shape more like this.

Oh, and even though I did just now, NEVER USE THE LINE TOOL.

Paint should only be used by people that know their way around it really well.
If I were you, I'd get the GIMP. It's free.
If you've got a couple of hundred dollars on hand, get a professional program.
Detail is key. A little detail added to just a smiley could make it as beautiful as some really pretty thing, if you know what you're doing.

If you want to look at things with extreme detail, I wouldn't go online. I would look at the videogames from around 1997. Games like WWII G.I, NAM and Blood. Monolith and companies like that knew detail.

The worms games are also chuck full of detail that make their games different from all others.

That's like, my second GIANT post in two days. I'm on a roll.

This is the last time I'll say it to you.
