I'm surprised that the new landscapes prevent those that did not buy landscapes from playing with those that did buy them. I would think that preventing the community from fracturing would be #1 priority. FPSs that release expansion packs suffered similiar fracturing of community. I would think that a solution could be found to still let people play together:

New landscapes only playable by those that did not buy them if they join someone that did(auto-download files, if Microsoft contract allows it).

Grayscale or less-bright landscapes for those that did not buy landscapes.


Just a thought.

If someone doesn't have your landscape styles, they can still join the game, you just won't be able to select that landscape style. Of course it would be better for the users if everyone could download the landscape style and only the people that bought them could host with them.
