Obviously you've yet to experience the joy of the WWP Mission Editor then. ;)

Very hard to choose, I love both games so much. (Not that I've ever played Team17's Lemmings games) Maybe worms though, because it has such a large replay value.

Couldn't team17 put them both into the same game, like lemmings 3D and worms 4: mayhem into a sort of same game? get the lemmings into the door all the while dogging worms and their weapons? or be the worms trying to destroy the lemmings? with crate drops that help both worms and lemmings? turn based for each worm and lemming? in 2D? well mabey not, but I voted equal so there.

No, because if nothing else, Lemmings 3D was an abominably bad game. And you're basically describing Worms 4: Mayhem with the option of playing as a Lemming. Which is silly.

Yes turning Lemmings into 3d was a big mistake. I had to vote for both because I always play these two.:D ;) . I cannot choose between these two.

I just said "can't compare". One's a puzzler, one's a turn-based strategy game. It's like saying, "which is better, Tetris or Civ?"*. It doesn't really work.

* I appreciate this is not the best analogy ever, but I'm sure that you, dear reader, wonderfully clever person that you undoubtedly are, can come up with an infinitely more subtle and adroit analogy. I therefore leave the task in the hands of your thoroughly capable imagination.

no, but u must understand that a comparison can be made due to the fact that they are both computer games involving little characters, indeed the mission mode in worms plays like lemmings in a way. But in any case i wasn't really asking you to compare, but rather which was your favourite is.

Try comparing Final Fantasy with Halo. They're both 3D and have characters that are supposed to represent humans. I'd hardly "compare" them, because they are still different genres. Worms and Lemmings are different genres, regardless of any apparant similarities.

So on that basis let's compare Halo and Project Gotham Racing - they both have vehicles in ;)

Or, a slightly less "stupid" comparison: Simpsons Hit & Run and Project Gotham - both have vehicles, both have elements of racing in them, but the similarities end there. You have to use strategy to win Worms, and you have to use strategy to win Lemmings, but they're not the same type of game.

Besides, lemmings and worms are in no way both "small" animals.
A lemming has a much bigger body mass and volume (30 to 112 g, 7 to 15 cm body length).
A 10 cm long Lumbricus terrestris specimen merely weighs ~1g.

You can get 3m long earthworms, but I think the small sprites were the point. Lemmings was the first game to show that that could work -- it was designed for that purpose. Think of it as "seminal".

Obviously, ive never played lemmings 3D. that wasnt what I was thinking at the time. I was thinking normal lemmings 2D puzzle, but with one lemming at a time, [turn based like worms, so you have to get your lemming into the door before your turn runs out and its one of the worms's go's, the worms have normal worms weapons, and the lemmings have normal lemmings tools]
but the diffrence is that there are worms as well, and the lemmings have longer time because it requires a lot of thinking, unless it's a very simple puzzle. I was also thinking campians and expansion packs, but I guess it might no be a big it, because it is almost impossible to see the same picture as me when looking at this post.

and also, about the comparing, comparing worms to lemmings, is like comparing a cheese sandwich and a vanila ice cream sandwich. ones more spoilt.[in this case the vanila ice cream sandwich witch represents worms]
and the other is also a good old classic, but long forgoten, and owned by the guy next door, who has a dog who will bite your head off if you try to take it off him, even though he locks the cheese sandwich in a cupboard, never to be seen again, or eaten. [the cheese sanwich is lemmings, the owner is sony, the dog is some lawyers] good thing good old Team17 own W;)rms, other wise there would be no need for any of this junk site, I mean...er...lovely heaven...

Its just a opinion. Some people don't think worms and lemmings are comparable, some do. I would prefer worms over lemmings simply because I like it more than lemmings. i get more fun out of a game of worms than a game of lemmings. Nothing wrong with that.

[Sigh] no, I have played 2D and 3D worms, and 2D lemmings, but I was saying that worms and lemmings are a bit like the ridiculous vanila ice cream sandwich, and the classic mouldy cheese sandwich.[eaten only by out of luck tramps]

The obvious answer to all the problems is this: there is no need to compare them as diffrent things or any other way, we just need to find the most supirior person in the world. easy. it's me. I voted equal. thats that.

Well...that or the poll.

Doom ][ would be my all time fav, since I killed so many hundred thousand enemies in that game for years back then.. Tho the killin in Worms is still pretty addictive - even a couple of years break won't help to bring back ye good olde junky feeling, which can hardly be said for every game on this planet. Lemmings was fun -> the fact that game images are recallable within my neurotic mess in my head without needing the Google Brainsearch plug-in states that the game must have left some impression (duh, of course it was a gr8 game xD).
But ][ still was the hit from back then. Man, I loved those custom maps, Imps-r-us, and Foxhole, shooting stupid chicken with a rocket launcher at high speeds at each other. Yes, it must have been Hamburger Hill, the Killing Fields, Europe during the last centuries and the massive aids victims in Africa all counted together and then tripled to get the amount of dead Archviles, Cacodemons, Barons, Imps, Arachnotrons and Revenants running without a chance towards my ever ***ing minigun... upgraded and tweaked of course - custom rooms filled to the max with cannon fodder anxious waiting for you to trigger the door... Muhaha it was a HELL of a time xD

Worms will definably become most favorite when I reach the same amount of kills - it's just a matter of time before 20 billion worms are killed, no worries. Oww, but then it also still has to beat the amount of innocent pedestrians which I killed in GTA2 (which is, btw, free for download, at Rockstar Classics Games). Lets see, that amount must be the size of the ppl in China and surrounding countries... mmmK... 0o... you're lucky it's 2 late for AG at the moment... so for now Worms is still at number 3.

But, uhm... Lemmings your were saying? Yea, it was fun for a couple of months. It's maybe somewhere in my Top 20. Like The Incredible Machine 2 or 3. And like Manhunt. Or MOHAA - Spead of Destiny. Non comparable to Worms indeed. Can I order one of those sandwiches btw? And a Red Herring Vanilla Salt Shake? Waiter? Hello? Table 54 please? Sandwich? Herring? HELLOO? Man, this place sux - I'm heading for Burger King.

back to the topic, overall, worms rules. thats why worms is more succsessful, it appeals more to the modern society[what with the killing and all] where lemmings apealed more to the people of the 1990's. Its Simplicity is its beauty, i find worms quite tiresome myself as well as it is ridiculous and its so fricking crazy, but i admit it is a laugh. Lemmings chills me out and gets the cogs in my brain working especially the mayhem and taxing levels.

So you see i think both have their merits, but as we live in a crazy world anyway i like to retreat into a nice slow game of lemmings to relax.
