This happens quite often with me on Opera, when browsing the forum. Trying to access a forum or subforum leads to the page only being loaded to 11%(according to opera), no matter how many times I try refreshing and no matter how long I wait for it to load.

For example, I go into Online Orgy and it loads to 11% and doesn't show anything on screen. I can hit refresh a bahzillion times and will give me the same result. I can even go back to the main forum, click on Online Orgy again and the same thing happens.
But then, if I use the "go to last post" in online orgy and then use the forum jump thingy on the lower right area of the thread to go to Online Orgy, it will display properly.

I don't really know if this is Opera, my ISP or the forum doing this*, but it gets annoying sometimes. Does this happen to anyone else here?



*my money is on the forum mind you, given that this doesn't seem to happen in any other site...

edit: And sometimes not even using the forum jump helps, like right now, I can't go into Online Orgy...

Try to clear the browser cache.

You could try using another browser when it does that, to see whether or not it is actually Opera. Eliminate one possibility.

Which version are you using? I'm on 9.20, and I don't have this problem, and I don't remember having that problem on any previous version.

Whenever I get a problem like that, I try the same site with IE.

Fortunatly, IE doesn't work either, so I know it's the site's fault.

Does that mean that in the unfortunate event IE can render the page corectly, you'll switch back to it? :)

It does get fixed when I clear the cache. Thing is, this didn't happen before and it happens now, and I haven't changed anything in Opera.

How do you clear the cache, I keep finding the option but then losing it almost immediatly.

In Opera? Tools-Delete Private Data-Details-Make sure only "Clear Entire Cache" is ticked-Delete

Also, in most browsers, Ctrl+F5 does it but I prefer to do it like that for some reason

I havn't used Opera enough to know really. Firefox has never bailed out on me anyway so I'm quite content.

It took me a while to move away from IE, so I don't think you're going to suceed.

Besides, I tried Firefox and it is only a couple of steps ahead of IE.

Both Firefox and Opera are miles ahead of IE because they actually understand CSS2. I moved away from Opera to Firefox because of all the extra useful add ons that it has (mainly).

A couple of very large steps then :p.

In any case, I found Opera to be fairly efficient at doing things, more then Firefox, even if I do need to press F5 more than normal.

But with opera you don't have to spend time trawling through extensions as all the good features are already there.

I use both Firefox and Opera. It's an old habbit of mine from before the time that Opera could use Gmail, so I set firefox startpage to gmail.com and simply use that as my gmail shortcut =P

Throughout all of my time on the internet, the only "browser complaints" I've encountered (THIS THING DOESN'T WORK ON MY BROWSER!) have been about IE, FIrefox and Opera.

Not one complaint about Safari.
Not only that, but I've never had anything not work because of my browser.

Nope, read this again but more slowly:

There are less people to find the errors and, in the subject of viruses, there will be less interest in exploiting any holes in the browser. Thats why IE is so susceptible. Its not necasserily to do with the number of security holes in the browser; the popularity of the browser also comes into play.

Safari has always properly loaded every page (Except ones that specifically block certain browsers). Exactly what Metal Alex was describing to you. Firefox is more popular, therefore more errors are found. I have a nifty book on java which describes safara as a "hell hole for using Java with" :p

Such things would be nice if I was saying that I didn't like my browser and I wanted a new one. In these cases, telling someone to change to Firefox is perfectly fine.

But if someone is fine with what they've got, trying to tell them that there's a better web-browser would only lead to arguments.

Heck, you can add any search engine to it without any extensions, just by right-clicking, and they also work on the address bar, such as "g STUFF I'M SEARCHING ON GOOGLE".
