Hello there. I've been having some problems playing my WA game. When i first got my computer it ran fine, but apparently i changed something becuase now it never works. Heres some answers to question i may be asked

-Im on XP
-I have a legally purchased US version, on a CD with the yellow-orange radioactive symbol.
-Intsallation goes fine, but when i try to play, the screen goes black and and windows says it needs to close.
-I tried the 2.0 patch, this time the screen doesnt even change, i just get an error.

I currently have the CD in but am awaiting further instruction from you all on how to install it properly.

Erm, use this update installer (http://www.nanacide.com/wahelp/WA_update-3.6.26.5_Beta_Installer.exe) instead. It'll do everything automatically.

no luck. the screen goes black, and i get " wa.exe has encountered a problem and must close. ive tried disabling the intro, no luck.

The "3.0.0.0" in that message box hints that you haven't updated your game correctly.
Try looking at the properties of WA.exe in your W:A folder. The version on the Version tab should say 3.6.26.5.
If it doesn't, uninstall all copies of the game, re-install it, and then run the Beta installer I've linked to above.

darn it!!!! i completely uninstalled, reinstalled, used the beta link...and the same msg as before pops up.

Erm, use this update installer instead. It'll do everything automatically.

Thanks CyberShadow, I forgot that link (I thought the 3.6.26.5 update would work anyway since he said it's a US CD, which are all 3.0.0.0 IIRC).

Try looking at the properties of WA.exe in your W:A folder. The version on the Version tab should say 3.6.26.5.

So you're saying that the EXE's version is 3.6.26.5, but the version in the error box still says 3.0.0.0 and you have only one copy of the game installed?

by same strange coincidence my friend wanted to borrow the game, so he has it right now.

remove your game (backup the "user" folder) install the game, run http://www.nanacide.com/wahelp/WA_update-3.6.26.5_Beta_Installer.exe ,then run the game.

If after installing the Beta update you still get an error with WA.exe version 3.0.0.0, you probably have several game installations. Uninstall ALL copies of the game from your computer, reinstall the game, install the Beta update to the folder where you just installed the game, and run WA.exe from the folder where you just installed the game.
