ok so my math teacher offered me and two others from my specific class, since there will be no enriched math the chance to take: Calculus & vectors in grade 11 along witht he normal grade 11 U and then i'll take Functions U in 12.

or

I ca take calculus & vectors, and functions in grade 12 and only take grade 11 U next year.

Anyone taken these courses and have a recommendation or ?

- He told me i need to decide by Monday so i posted to help get others input.

Let me check if I quite get those options.

1 - Take Normal Y11 course in Y11 + calculus and vectors
2 - take normal Y11 course in Y11 and then a few other things the year after?

The A-level maths vectors are taking just over a week to learn, and functions, if I remember correctly took about that length of time too. And we've spent most of the last year improving calculus from nil to being able to integrate crazy stuff, so it depends how much you'd do as to how much time/effort it would take. Not knowing the actual course I'm unsure what I'd personally recommend, except to take as much maths as possible so long as you're up to it and the teaching's good. It's interesting and very useful (if you ask me). I'm currently doing Further Maths, which means 4 years worth of maths compressed into 2 by having double the lessons.

I'm not sure if that really helps, but never mind.

It all depends on how good you are at maths...

i'm good, i asked him if he thought i could do it and his answer was that he wouldn't have asked me if i wasn't.

I'd go for it then!

If you take the extra work in year\grade 11, if it's not going very well can you postpone the exam until the year after?

I started taking the further maths course and soon realised I wouldn't be able to keep up with it, so resorted to the normal A-Level, not sure if it works the same way where you are.

thats a good question. but i assume it would work and if i did I'd be half a year in front of my other class since instead of 3 classes a week i have 6 and we do it semester ed. so theoretically i could finish the original math, drop advanced functions and just not pay attention.
