use the last time I wrote this, it got deleted. I'm pretty sure that one of my control keys is stuck, whih has caused various annoying things to happen - the most of all being every page on Firefox zoomed in as far as possible. It's only happened since earlier today. Anyone know the best way to fix it?

Edit:Bah, the start got deleted. I've tried disconnecting my keyboard and mouse but it doesn't help. The only "solution" that works is to restart. However the problem seems to reoccurs soon after.

step 1: detach your keyboard
step 2: open it up via screwdriver
step 3: remove circuitry
step 4: stick in dishwasher, mild wash, NON-HEATED dry
step 5: check for gunk in circuitry
step 6: reassemble
step 7: done!

if you don't want to stick the keyboard in your dishwasher, you can wash it by hand--but that takes too long

Beginning to wonder if it is a stuck key now. Scroll bars try and scroll up when I scroll down or snap to the top when I drag it.

Thing is... if it was a stuck key, the problems should stop when I disconnect the keyboard, right? After disconnecting the keyboard, the screen stays zoomed in even if I tell it otherwise using the mouse, and vice versa.

State keys (Ctrl, Alt, Shift and possibly Windows) stay pressed until the key is released. So if the key is pressed and the keyboard is disconnected, the key will stay pressed (until a reset) since the computer will never detect when the key is released. (yes, you can try this yourself if you want)

So, better start scrubbing under those Ctrl keys.

Probably a stupid suggestion, but you haven't accidentally turned something like "Sticky Keys" (or whatever it's called) on in the accessibility-related control panel?

1. Browser zooms in as far as possible and won't let me zoom out again
2. Scroll bars try to go up
3. The mouse slowly drifts left

Edit: I think it's a stuck button on my mouse...

If the mouse is moving, then it's definitely the mouse.
If you have another mouse you can try plugging that one in instead.

Edit: I think it's a stuck button on my mouse...Well scrolling and zooming involves the scrollwheel (stuck going up?), though zooming in a browser also involves the Ctrl key.

At this rate you might as well scrub all the devices. :p

Edit: Mouse cursor moving on its own is usually a wireless mouse with something conflicting (low battery / conflicted connection / lousy mousemat / etc.)

something similar to this happend to me on a laptop, it turns out the touchpad was static.

though, since you're not on a laptop...
