Well those of you who bought the prequel will know what it's all about but for those of you who don't....The Lord Of The Rings: The Battle For Middle Earth are a series of two RTS games produced by EA and based solely on the films "The Lord Of The Rings" trilogy. Factions include the Elves, Dwarves, Men of the West (Gondor and Rohan combined) and the Goblins, along with Mordor and Isengard. It is a fantastic strategic game with all the qualities of a really good RTS. What are your views?

Put simply, I preffer the original BFME. Not entirely sure why - probably because I don't like the 'Build-almost-anywhere-you-like' system in BFME2, as opposed to the more strategic capturing of building spots (outposts and whatnot) in BFME. I'm also not a fan of the way the units have changed from BFME - you have more men per unit (where it was once just, say, 5 soldier, you've now got around 20 for each indivual battalion), and no health bars for each individual unit, making micro much harder - the only thing it seems to do is cause lag. :-/

Also, the guy that's 'Legolas' Dad' (can't remember his name) is utterly broken, more so than Gandalf. :p

EDIT: That said, both are fantastic games, definately recommended. Just that the original is better (and cheaper) imo.

Obviously that is your opinion, but may I add-

1. I like the build anywhere aproach especially when each spot has a percentage of resources which you gain from the quality of the spot.
2.The units are also slightly more expensive so therefore there are more people.
3.The health bar thing- You just have to go to options/ settings to change that, you can select the health bar thing and they are back! It was edited to make battles a bit clearer but as I say they can be easily brought back.

Overall (IMO) BFME II is alot better and advanced that BFME I.

Oh and also, get the expansion pack "Rise Of The Witch-King." Well worth the extra dosh.:p

Well... yes. Yes it is.

Although, a witch doesn't actually have to be female... I think...

No it doesn't. Many males were also burned at the stake for suspected witchcraft!
