In a ranked game with 3 or 4 players, does only the winner gain rank, and everyone else lose equally, or does it go by order in which you were knocked out, and give more credit the longer you lasted?

Don't remember the post, but I'm pretty sure it's been said that ranking is affected by wins, win/loss ratio, and damage inflicted, so even if you go out first but cause a lot of damage, your rank probably won't go down that much, or may even go up(?).

Anyone know more about how the skill-points / ranking is calculated? Can't find anything on this site.
