So who plays instruments? Some of you out there must play the odd guitar or drums or piano or something. So just post what ya play basically and add a grade if appropriate:D

Ok, me, I play:
Clarinet-Grade 5
Electric Guitar and Bass- Been playing about three years on both, never done grades with them, can't be bothered, In a couple of bands.
Saxophone-grade 3

I'm a percussionist (no not drums, yet!)

Piano - grade 8(ish) - failed by 4 marks about 3 years ago but haven't resat due to uni being in the way, but I'm still playing.

I have a quite nice falsetto voice.

Don't remember the years I started learning, but I'm in Wind Ensemble (Highest level band) at my high school.

It's far more notable that I've composed a hell of a lot of pieces for piano/marimba. I'm unable to judge without bias, obviously, but I think that I'm pretty good at the composing thing.

So many people, so many instruments, everywhere you look. It's one of those things I would like to be able to do, but I've never made the commitment and can't really be bothered, so I expect I never shall.I can't even play the triangle in time :p

On the other hand, I do know how to set up a mixing desk and PA system for a large hall, and have a reasonable knowledge and experience at setting equipment up from scratch, which is quite fun.

Keyboard, only had it for less than half a year; just play it for something to do, not professionally.

I can play keyboard. I play it right good. Also sing. Even at the same time.

But I can't read sheet music at any speed, either. What I generally do is get a guitar tab and leran the chords. Once you get to know them it's fairly simple to get a song down.

I wanted to play trumpet, but my Dad ordered me a French horn and a saxaphone instead. :p

I'm playing recorder (Grade 2-ish), and learning guitar, keyboard and soon either French horn or saxaphone (probably both).

Oh, I'm all for unusual instruments in bands -- can't like Chip Bailey and be against weird instruments. I guess it just amused me that someone would decide to learn flute, then learn how to play rock on the flute, and then -- as in retrospect they should probably have expected -- had to advertise to find a band they'd fit in.

Piano just done grade 3 today, dunno weather I've passed or not, think I have.

I did recorder in Year 4 and 5, and I enjoy a good rendition of vindaloo.

But, I don't think either of them actually qualify as music.

I don't struggle at playing the piano, I just rarely ever practice it and when I do, I don't even do what I'm supposed to do.

My piano teacher has decided that I should try Grade 3 though, in light of my laziness.

I am VERY familiar with that concept, perhaps a bit too familiar for my own liking.

Trumpet- 1 year, but I never really play anything on it.
I am considering teaching myself to play the guitar and piano.
I taught myself the second two instruments, after all! Clarinet was in school...

3 year electric guitarist right here. I've started to play harder solos, like most of 2 Minutes to Midnight by Iron Maiden, but I just can't get the super-fast runs down the strings D:

I quite enjoyed music, at least the lessons that weren't answering questions about composers I'd never heard of (seriously, who is Henry Purcell?).

But then, the only things I was happy to give up when I took my GCSEs were Art and PE (And Games and Welsh, but I couldn't drop those...).

Yes, I have quite a few friends doing GSCE music, and from what I've heard they don't actually do much at all. Music and art were the only subjects I actually wanted to drop; hell, I enjoyed french more than art.

GCSE music is fairly pointless, especially when your teacher doesn't exactly teach you :p
Though, I do have to perform a song with me friend in a few days.

I'm taking music and enjoying it greatly, bu that might just be cos I am generally quite musical.

Do you want an answer for that? If so, it's because it gives it a deep bass tone.
