What is your graphics card? Some newer ones have problems with the old technology for WA.

Laptop and desktop? Interesting.

What are the graphics cards and operating systems for each of them?

Also, what particular CD version are you using?

When you installed the game, did you then install the patch and the update, or just the update?

My laptop is actually this: http://b2b.sony.com/Solutions/product/VGN-UX280P and my desktop is using a 8800 GTX which is very new and could be y it isnt working on my desktop. My UX i posted above uses a intel 945GMS. There both using XP Professional. I installed the game on my UX by mounting an image through daemon, then I installed this on both systems: http://forum.team17.co.uk/showthread.php?t=31140

I don't know, maybe the same problem.

Are there any DirectDraw testers (NOT the DXdiag one because that one is very simple and does not go into the complexity required by worms) that can see if that is his problem that anyone knows of?

i would blame either/both the processor and/or video card, like wtf is a Intel® Core™ Solo Processor U1400 Ultra Low Voltage?

my friend somehow has it working on his UX but I dont know how and cant talk to him for a few days, are there any special patchs for WA that could solve this possibly? ill just have to wait for nvidia on my desktop I guess. Also, does WA support 1024x600 resolution?

a processor good for micro PCs like the UX280P to conserve battery life.

Your friend is living in 2002 ;) Silkworm 4.x is mostly obsolete, AFAIK.

could that be the reason its working on the UX though? Also he said he has an issue that, when he goes into the options menu, the game CTD. Also, is there a way to view the menus in a different resolution? The UX only supports 800x600 (bars on left and right of screen) and 1024x600 (fullscreen) resolution. My friend found the registry entry for the game and edited it and set it to 1024x600 and now singleplayer is full screen however menus have bars around it since its 640x480 and cant see some things.

For the can't see some things problem, try this:
R1. I can't see the bottom or right side of the screen in the front end
Your font sizes are incorrect. Find your computer's display properties panel and set font sizes to "Normal" (96dpi)

that didnt do it, still cant see. Im guessing there isnt a way to change the menu resolution? Also, another problem, whenever I go into the options menu, the game CTD with a windows error message.
