Wow there's so many nice little details in that. I love your work, keep it up.

He has both his eyes on one side...
Just like a sunfish.
Wonderful. It's things like this that make me think this comic explosion wasn't a bad thing.

No it wasn't.
Can I ask what Bradford and Bingley have to do with this comic? And why is it a paradox?
Ace art work, as usual.

I think those questions sort of answer each other.
Man alive, that artwork is just entirely too damn good.

Well, the comics i've posted so far don't really make much sense. Hopefully this one will improve on that. :)

Not really. With Guiness, you would've been shouting "KEANO! KEANO!"
And beknownst to me, you meay also have been carrying around a horse in a wooden cart!

That is the best time to make a comic. Trust me :p

Second exclamation mark should be after the second back.

No, it should be before the 2nd back.
200% FAIL.

12 Mar 2007, 01:25
No it shouldn't, the exclamation mark is part of the back. If you wanted to do it that way you'd have to reverse all the words.
YOU FAIL AT PERCENTAGES.
Oh, and nice comic. :p

Contrary to popular believe, the exclamation mark does not become a part of the word, therefore, Pigbuster is right.
YOU FAIL AT FAILING OTHER PEOPLE.

wahahaha! these are just too awesome! :D
make us some more sir!
Splapp, I really, REALLY like your style. It captures the feel of the Beano and Worms so well.
The sunbathing cockle made me smile so wide that my cheek rang next door's door bell. Seriously. They keep asking me what I want. I keep telling them I want mango sorbet but DO THEY LISTEN? NO!
*******s.
I was in a good mood when I started this post. Now I am going to punch a kitten in the throat. <BRB>
Beano
THAT'S what Splapp's style reminds me of, Calamity James from the Beano. That's been bugging me for ages trying to think what it was.
I loved Calamity James. I love Splapp's art for the same reason, all those small, random and totally silly details.
It's the "Fantastic Plan" bit in the same panel as the sunbathing cockle that makes me laugh.

HOLY CRAP!!! Did Splapp draw that?!?! That's IDENTICAL to the real thing! I'm astounded! You, Splapp, are now perhaps my favourite artist ever! UNBELIEVABLE!!

I always though Splapp based his style on that, that's a pretty damn good copy. The man's got some serious talent, as if we didn't already know.

Wow! That really is brilliant.
I demand Whelks!
Splapp, did you copy that picture directly from a comic or just draw it from your head? Either way it's truly fantastic, you should become and artist for the beano..!!

That would seem like a waste.
How? Well paid-yes, Good and enjoyable job-yes, you can't go wrong.

In my incredibly (and deliberately) limited experience of Beano comics, they're much less funny than the stuff Splapp does already.
In my incredibly (and deliberately) limited experience of Beano comics, they're much less funny than the stuff Splapp does already.
Perhaps but he could keep up the "extra" stuff on the side whilst appealing to the younger audience in the Beano, so alltogether uppering his status, and he would get paid so..:p
To be honest, I think doing it as a job would take all the fun out of it. Deadlines and stuff. But what do I know about jobs, I'm a student...

My personal favourite Beano artist is the one who does the occasional comic-long story, usually taking the form of The Bash Street Kids vs. Everyone Else (He was also behind the return of The 3 Bears).
The general level of drawing and writing seems far more intelligent there.
Agreed. (With P.P) I seem to remember one where they all travel to Sydney, Australia. On a big boat!:)

A childrens comic would limit Splapp, remember the artists don't think of the storylines, they just draw what they're told (AFAIK). I doubt our good splapp could hack that, plus remember the EoL where they taught the kids to swear? (If you don't why not?) You can't do anything rude in a kids comic.

Mr. Dr.Smooth, I'm afraid, given your being new, that you don't yet understand how we behave on the forum. Post anything they can make fun off and the oportunity won't be missed.
I'd say you should get your art thread up. Fast.

What?........
It means that you've said something wonderful/hilarious.
Don't think too hard about it. :p
and WELCOME HELLO.
And if Splapp worked as an artist, you have to remember that there are dead-lines and stuff. One of the reasons his stuff is so good now is because he can spend a long time doing whatever he wants. As a professional artist, he'd not only be under a deadline, he'd have to satisfy someone else (producers, directors, etc.)
Just let him decide what he wants to do with his life.
Just let him decide what he wants to do with his life.
Lol, yeh, good point.
Hey guys lets not bully the new kid...who knows he might be the best artist we've ever had:p
One of the reasons his stuff is so good now is because he can spend a long time doing whatever he wants. .
Nah, the reason he does stuff so good is due to talent that you gain from practicing and trying to get better. Time...really doesn't play a factor in it besides the time until he feels like doing something. He COULD get us more stuff more often, however he is FAT.
Now that I think of it, I may have taken that post the wrong way. LOLL.
LOLOL. I'd love to have a job as a comic artist, me. I actually sent the Beano editor an email a few weeks ago about possibly being an artist for them, but he didn't reply. :( But as you know, it is aimed at kids... so the kind of things I could draw would be fairly limited. Then again, look at Calamity James... I still find that hilarious! :D
