View Full Version : Some maps I made ages ago

I've finally managed to get my decidedly bizarre version of W:A to run, and as such I've dug out my old maps. So I thought I'd share. I've split them into three zips of four (or three) maps each. You may have seen some of them before; some are from WWP missions I did, some aren't but were used in them anyway, and some were neither. A few of them have been on Worms Universe (or whatever Kiljaeden's site was called). A lot have JPEG artefacts on them that I've not been able to remove (because if you could do that JPEG would be lossless). Here's what you get:

Top 4
Unexploded Bomb 1 -- a bomb, surrounded in tape. The oldest, my favourite, and a pretty popular map. I lost it for a while and made Unexploded Bomb 2 but I never liked it as much as the original.
Science -- another of my favourites. It's a slightly modified version of a map I did for a WWP mission (also available on this forum, I think).
Necricon HQ -- the base of the evil Necricon corporation. Includes two islands and a space shuttle.
PC Stuff -- another old one, this is just a load of PC related objects arranged into a map.

5 Through 8
Cityscape -- more elaborate and probably less well realised than the above. Another mission one.
Whale -- very simple, but pretty effective.
Castle -- much as above. A huge castle on a wide, low island. Not much in the way of overhangs. The battlements are mildly interesting to play on.
The Dainty Lady -- another I did for a mission. This has a ship (named for Monkey Island) and an island with a palm tree.

9 Through 11
Telephone Poles -- again for a mission. This has a lot of very thin land you can shotgun through.
My Room Circa 1996 -- featuring correct period videogames console. It's not great but it plays alright.
Loch Ness -- I can't help smile at this one. Does what it says on the tim.

If anyone feels the need to stick them on WMDB or whatever then feel free to do so, but make sure I'm credited and that nobody else has done it first. I might have to do some with my scanner sometime. That would be better, I reckon.

Very nice maps!
I like Nessie and the whale best.

Your maps got their own subfolder in the saved levels folder.

I must say, the Loch Ness monster and Unexploded Bomb 1 ones are both awesome maps. I also love the cartoony style on all of them, just like Worms maps should be. Good job!

And - if I'm not mistaken - named after a WU&R mission with the same premise!

I have to agree, very nice maps. Though I can't help but think of Snoopy whenever I see that space shuttle.

You? Mistaken? As if.

OH NOES! AT IS GOING AMERICAN!!!

"5 through 8" is American!!!

"5 to 8" is English.

Different prepositions in certain contexts
In the United States, the word through can mean "up to and including" as in Monday through Friday. In the UK Monday to Friday, or Monday to Friday inclusive is used instead; Monday through to Friday is also sometimes used. (In some parts of Northern England the term while can be used in the same way, as in Monday while Friday, whereas in Northern Ireland Monday till Friday would be more natural.)

Actually, that difference is fairly minimal, as both are and have been used for some time.
5 to 8 can also refer to the ratio 5:8, so it does save confusion.

Now, what would be American is AT saying artifact instead artefact.

No, that's just my natural inability to spell.
