Any chance that when you have finished developing Worms for Xbox Live Arcade, you could start working on Lemmings?

It has apparently come out on the PS3, so us Lemmings fans who own Xboxes sure are missing out.

That would be awesome

Thanks ;)

Lemmings is wholly owned by Sony. It's pretty unlikely they'll ask Team17 to make a version for their competitors' consoles.

Ahh what a shame, how come Lemmings is owned by Sony now? Psygnosis are the developer that i know of for this game who yes is owned by Sony, but how come Team 17 hade a port for the PSP and are working on the PS3 version? Aren't Psygnosis anything to do with it anymore?

Anyway, surely Team 17 could get around it and launch a game similar to lemmings with a different idea and name.

Psygnosis were bought by Sony in 1993, and they owned the IP, hence it now belongs to Sony.

They then lost their name in 1999 and became just another part of Sony.

Team17 made Lemmings because Sony asked them to. My guess is that Game Republic were involved in that decision. Team17 making a Lemmings-like-but-not-Lemmings game would be a legal minefield. Usually they'd probably be pretty safe (based on the number of obvious rip-offs around already), but after making Lemmings I think they'd be very... not safe.

Eh Game Republic? What?

Sony bought Psygnosis some years back, including all the IP. The Sony Liverpool (Wavertree) studio/offices are what was Psygnosis.

We did PSP, PS2 and PS3 editions for them. There are no plans for the IP to appear on other non-Sony formats right now.

Eh Game Republic? What?
I thought a nearby Sony owned company were involved in Game Republic (though I can't for the life of me think who so I may have made that up), and I couldn't think of any other connection between Sony, a huge Japanese corporation, and Team17, a small English software house. I'm not sure what else would have prompted Sony to find you rather than have one of the companies they own make it, like SCEE who made the previous Lemmings game.

Don't really know a lot about such things, though.

We've known the guys at Sony for a long time, but it helped that one of our producer pals went to work for Sony after leaving Sega and we cropped up in conversation. The rest, they say, is history.

I could well think that the producer pal has been enthusing about T17's tremendous beer consumption.

Bonz, quick question - are you able to set foot in a thread without mentioning Spadge, beer, and the act of one consuming the other? :p

Some beer consuming Spadge is a pretty scary thought. I'll never look at beer in the same way again. Maybe it'll consume ME!!!
