They are being sued because of the name. :)

Apparently Apple Inc. (as they are now known - they've ditched the "Computer" from their name) was in talks with Cisco over use of the iPhone trademark, but Apple jumped the gun a bit with announcing their phone, so Cisco are sueing them.

Again. What is it with those guys and good ideas?

The price tag might keep me off it for awhile, but it's bond to drop. Looks pretty good.

I've followed it live and.. i must admit that with every update I went "WOW  " or "F*** YEAH! :D ".. I actually jumped around for a little when my dad received a call that his company is getting the iPhone as their company phone.
But hey, I'm a mac geek, I'm allowed to do that :p

And about the design and features...
they make me feel warm and fuzzy inside :p

if they would only drop the price atleast $100 I'd definetly buy one

Well, they kinda had to do it now, It's heading to FCC ( Federal Communications Commission ) and if it was still secret when they sended it over it would most likely been leaked outside, Which is not as cool as the kick455 keynote two days ago.

I don't know, while it definately looks good, I don't think I'd want to carry one round with me. It going to be pretty expensive, and while it can do loads of stuff, it could easily get nicked or broken.
I'd rather have several cheaper, simpler things.

I'm not interested in it. At the end of the day, it's just another mobile phone, same old stuff, with an iPod built in. The touchscreen doesn't add any more appeal for me, I couldn't care less how I have to select something.

Apart from the fact that I don't want an iPod, or a new phone, even if I did, I wouldn't pay £359 for them.

No camera?
I like phones with a camera!
Or did I miss it if there is one.
Either way, I'd rather have an iPod and a phone, but not in one. I don't really know why...

definitely something I'm interested in. I've been looking for a new provider because sprint is a horrible pile of worthless junk, so I need a better phone and provider. I was going with Helio for a bit there, but the iPhone is just too nice looking to pass up considering I'm in the market anyway.

is there a release date on it?

I believe it's around June this year for the USA, subject to FCC approval.

Cingular will be the only providers in the USA for the first couple of years.

Ohhh it does too. I didn't look hard enough.:o
How long would your batteries last with one of those? Considering you use it for music and as a phone.

It says on the site: http://www.apple.com/iphone/technology/specs.html

I don't really see what the iPhone has to offer that other phones don't have.

eh, for some reason I wouldnt worry about the iPhone only being on Cingular. It's only a matter of time untill some nerd figures out how to switch networks. :p

as for the provider thing, it's only a matter of time before it's changed to other providers. I give that about a week or so.

It is cingular only until 2008 (or 2009, cant be bohered to check)
so by the time it's released world wide its un-sim-locked

I wouldn't be so sure of that, they did sign a contract stating it would be cingular only until 2008/2009

I wouldn't be so sure of that, they did sign a contract stating it would be cingular only until 2008/2009translation: it is capable of being used on other providers.

that means that some overzealous anti-cingular person is going to buy the iPhone and make it work with their provider within a week or two of its release. the information will spread and everyone will give a big F. U. to cingular. :p

Come to think of it, this iphone sounds like competition with the Spark music box from Telus.

No it's not >_>

No it's not >_>I'm being charged way more than I should be for a crappy phone that can't receive or send any files. if I want a custom ringtone I have to pay $4 per ringtone every 3 months, and that's only if I'm already paying the $15 a month for the service that allows me to access that......my bills are also charged random amounts of money over what it normally should be and while the difference is never more than $5, it shouldn't be there at all.

on top of all that, I get no more than 3 bars no matter where I go unless I'm out in the wide open prairie-type areas on a busy highway.
