Is it possible to copy the data folder from the cd to the data folder to my install directory to avoid accessing during the game namely the sound files? this is just for the sound files to avoiding cd access stalls not the cd verification when i start to play.

yes
however, you are going to:
1. need to turn off sound ambience in the options menu
2. copy all stuff in the data/user folder not currently in the install directory
3. remember that you are still going to need the cd to start the game, anyways

even so, i doubt it will work, and i highly recommend a cd emulator like virtualdrive (http://www.farstone.com/software/virtualdrive.htm).
