It my new Patch for New Maps v.2.060 for Worms3D.
It adds new maps listed below and unlocks the preinstalled ones.
The total number of new maps is 60(+2 bonus maps).
Now it is possible to play on the new maps in multiplayer or on-line (if the opponent patched his game too).

I'll do it. Could you give me the .XOM files and eventually, the additional textures ? :)

Oh, and, a question... what do you use to make such maps ?

the maps that aren't part of w3d were made with k^2's editor.

Are you yet going to tell us, for W4, how to properly add maps to the map list; or how to get maps from W3D into W4 with the same textures?

adding maps to the list in w4 is fairly easy. just open scripts.xml in notepad. you should be able to work out how to add a new map. textures are trickier, though. first, you'd have to extract texture data from xom bundles in w3d. that, in itself, isn't so hard. i've managed to grab a few of the textures. however, you need a good method of finding each one of them, identifying them by name, making sure you get data offsets right, and saving them in tga. then you need to create custom banks for each of the w3d's themes in w4. again, straight forward. finally, a slightly trickier bit is converting texture lists files to point to custom bank textures instead of the theme textures. all in all, each part isn't so bad, but putting together tools that would do all of that efficiently and without bugs could be tricky.

Don't forget to add to the list:

-those maps where you can play at trainings, but not on multiplayer.
-Those maps from W3D that where in the DVD
-Would it be politically correct to add every level from W3D? :p

You can actually make new maps, since they are compatible!

Look in your privaye messages from time to time, I might send you ideas... Since I have Autocad, I can model stuff, as a preview.

actually, there is even a benefit to w4 because of the height maps. yes, it's easy enough to recreate the height map with a bunch of poxels, but it really works better with an actual height map. and it's very easy to model. all you need is a tool that will convert a 100x100 pixels image into a 10k floating point values, and you can make the height map the same way you would make a bump map.

you can install it by hand, but you need to get the files from a windows machine. do you have access to one at all? i can probably walk you through a registry hack that would let you extract the new maps without installing the game.

I have Worms 3D for Mac, I just want the Maps. I have access to a Windows computer once a week. I would like it if you could walk me through this.

ok, then. before you do anything else, you need to edit the registry. unzip the file i attached. (windows xp machine should let you open it by simply double clicking the .zip file) it will contain a registry script (addworms3d.reg) that will edit values for you. you should need only to double click the script, and it will run. the values it enters are the same as if you installed worms3d in c:\Worms3D. it will not mess with anything else.

another file in the archive is Worms3D.exe. it's not the real executable. it's just a blank file named like one to fool the installer. i'll tell you in a moment where to put it.

1) locate savegame.xom and scripts.xom in the /data subdirectory of the directory where you installed worms3d on your mac. you will need to copy these to a windows machine and make backup copies somewhere just in case.
2) on windows machine, go to drive c:\ and create a directory called Worms3D
3) in that directory create directoris called Data and bin (So you should now have c:\Worms3D\Data and c:\Worms3D\bin)
4) in Data create a directory called Maps
5) copy savegame.xom and scripts.xom to c:\Worms3D\Data
6) copy Worms3D.exe to c:\Worms3D\bin
7) download and run the map pack installer from worms3d-portal.com
8) now you need to copy the savegame.xom and scripts.xom back to the mac machine.
9) also, there will be some new maps in c:\Worms3D\Data\Maps. copy them to the /data/maps directory of the mac machine.
10) once done, you can delete the c:\Worms3D directory with all contents.

this should do it. let me know if anything doesn't work.

quakerworm

you might be able to use the same trick as above to unpack the maps, but it won't actually add the maps to the game, because worms4 uses .xml files instead of .xom files for scripts and savegame, and the theme names are different. you can, however, replace some of the w4 maps with these w3d maps after extracting them.

where did problems occur?

I Don't know I could ask my friend because I emailed this to him and when he replied he just said
It didn't work.
so I will ask him what it was specifically even though he gets really annoyed when I specifically ask him too much q's.
