I have the Sold-out version of W:A, and the blue water is getting a bit boring. Where can I get the other water colours?

Very good, but thats not the point.

I want the ORIGINAL COLOURS AS SHIPPED WITH WA.

Unless you are willing to give me the exact settings for every colour, including filenames.

They are actually the templates in that program :p

Could you elaborate on these "missing" water colours? I have an original WA and I only have the blue.

In a official one, there was a number of colours (that the Fiddler used for example). I believe there was Red, Yelllow, Green, Blue and Purple but i may be wrong.

Yes, but there was no official way of switching between them in the PC version. Use the water colour editor that you have been linked too.

Capt. Bonz to the rescue.
I've had uploaded the missing water colors here (http://files.filefront.com/worms_missing_water_colorszip/;4955819;;/fileinfo.html) since April 2006.
Are you one of his minions?
Cybershadow's & Deadcode's minions have been tied to exactly such a torture rack and forced to never disclose eachother's identity.
If we did, we would get an even more gruesome torture in some pub in Ossett.

Hmm well, unless I messed up, the standard templates included in the Water Editor should reproduce the standard colours from Worms 2 and the W:A versions where these were available with up to some 1% error. What's the point in the original files again?

Oh, since W:A 4.0 will be full colour, adding something like the WCE to the map editor shouldn't be a challenge...

Metal Alex
7 Jan 2007, 23:07
If we did

Now, loud enough: OH, CRAP

Also, something like the tombstones in that patch, or even, that editor implemented (we have it external, so it's not that important for now...) would be VERY nice... (if the additional water sprites are also around there, like fire and goo, it would be rather fantastic, to include them, too)

At any rate, W:A 4 will never be released, for the sole reason that no obvious feature set has been fixed.

CyberShadow:

As one more request, can you fix a feature/bugfix list for W:A 4.0 and work to it, cause at this rate more and more will be added, and it will never get finished.

How are you meant to get tortured in a pub? Get hit by broken glasses?

The editor makes a DAT file, the original files came as a text file and DIR file.

uhm... I see... I have the others in my CD though :p

But I wanna say that the notepad thing is not used. It's just a coluor showed in the "water selection", which doesn't exist... at least that's how it worked in W2, when I modified one :p (where it exists). Maybe it was removed.

But not the other colours, I didn't know they existed! I wouldnt call them very essential or usable though...

And yes, the .txt file isnt used

Uh, what's with all this confusion?

The text files containing the water's RGB colour aren't actually used in-game, AFAIK. The Solid.dir/Transparent.dir files which come with the Water Colour Editor are templates which I put together - the WCE replaces the palette data using Solid.txt and Transparent.txt, which contain the location of all palette bytes.

Now, early european versions of W:A CDs did have all the water colours. I'm not sure if the version of WA.exe on those CDs allowed you to actually set it. Maybe Team17 just didn't get to add that button/drop-down for choosing the water colour in the new map editor. But I do know that these files are absent in the US CDs.

Anyway, the Water Colour Editor does generate .dir files, compatible with the Water.dir files W:A uses. Actually, now I see the source of this confusion: I've accidentally mislabeled the Save button on the program, which currently reads: "Save Water.dat". It still saves files with a .dir extension.

Metal Alex - Spain

Nope, it doesn't. The files are just in the folder, and there is an image (in the same folder as the image of water shown in the editor) where the water is yellow instead. But not more colors.

This is all I know.

As well as the Sold-Out CDs.

And it was your typo that confused me :P

Sometimes typos are not that bad, sometimes they are bad (like that), sometimes they are fatal (but I dont want to talk about that).

Thats cause they were stripped from some CDs.

Besides, I was getting bored of the blue :P
