On multiplayer one of the maps I notice is titled "EB" and the mab is just a big sign saying "Electronics botique" I don't remeber ever having this map before and can't find it anywhere in the user folder, is it ment to be there?

Also, I remeber that the way to get custom maps into multiplayer is to put them in the user Savedlevel, correct? Well, in multiplayer I cannot find them.

They used to work on my old PC that way. and on my old PC I never seen the "EB" map before.

When in multiplayer the maps in "Savedlevels" can be accessed by right clicking the random map, then selecting the saved map from the drop down bar.

If the map is in the file "Imported" (maybe "Imports") you can access is by right clicking the random map and then clicking the floppy disk.

I'd like to extend this question to include the maps Fish, Junk, Space and definitely Sci.

I'm pretty sure I'd never seen these maps during several years of playing, then some time during the beta updates I suddenly discovered them. Maybe they were unlocked when I got the full wormage? Or were they in fact introduced somehow?

If I still had my disc I could install from scratch and find out again (but a friend in borrowing it)

You gentlemen must have switched CD's and forgotten about it. Some versions come with added maps in the Import folder.

I've seen the EB map and some others before when using other people's discs, but I've only ever got one of those myself [from the 5+ discs I bought over the years]. I think the WA disc from the Battle Pack [W2 + WA + WWP + WB Demo] has one, but I can't for the life of me remember which. And I've only seen the EB one on non-European discs.

You mean the other folder, right...? The one with all the missions maps?

I don't think you can actually play on the maps in the import folder without importing them through the editor and saving them first

Hmm. Oh. Probably. Yes. But there are differences between Import folders in different versions as well.

Now that I think about it, the EB one never appeared in the Import folder. Just wherever the mission maps are.

Also, is it possible to name your team all the same name? I remember a team online with all the team members named Agent.

So, how is it done?

franpa

A typo, as in typographical error (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Typographical_error) is something totally different.
What you did is a code orange franpa alert.

Since franpa seldomly gives useful information this link should be made sticky. I was looking for it, too.

I bookmarked it the day I saw it, because I found it hilarious that someone actually named the folder where the images reside after franpa. :D

I never had these maps before, until I got the latest beta update. Now, I have them. There you go. Answer on a plate.

Yep, however with TeamED I get a runtime error, some files are missing.

And yes, ive tried installing that.... agh, forgot the name of it.

There were actually two problems. One was a typo, as he said "you can however have multiple team names the same." rather than can't. However, the post is still wrong, as in game you can't name two worms in the same team the same.

This deseves another post:

I have a UK Sold Out Software release, that when inserted rather than displayingh the sold out flash animations, advertises MAD4GAMES mobile service, but I can't find a year anywhere. This copy has all the mentioned maps, including (belive it or not) EB, an american shop!

That's the same animation/disc frontend as mine...

My Greenpepper version (European prepatched V3.00E 27-4-99) also contains all the mentioned maps (Fish, Junk, Space, Sci and EB).

I think the maps were always on the CD - specirfically the US release and pre-patched UK versions (i.e. any version of the game released post-April 1999, such as the version included in the Armageddon Collection and Battle Pack compilations, or the Sold Out release) - but they were tucked away out of sight. Perhaps somethign in the patch made them accessible again.

It's also worth noting that Electronics Boutique did used to exist in the UK. They merged with GAME and in 2001 all branches of Electronics Boutique were re-branded. The Arndale Centre in Luton had, at that point, three GAMEs - the large store near McDonalds, the smaller store near Woolworths (formerly an EB) and the GAME store in Debenhams (which is still there, bizarrely).

I bought my copy of WA for the GameBoy Color from an Electronics Boutique, as it happens. Possibly the EB map is the result of a deal between Team17/Microprose/Hasbro and either the US or UK divisions of EB.

Ah. I think I know what's going on. Like S2K said, they were always on the CD, but not shown. Remember that update that allowed you to have "all the maps in the drop-down list even if you haven't completed the respctive missions"? That's when it came in. He must've just flicked a switch and allowed all maps, not knowing that there were some that were previously impossible to get.

Sounds reasonable.

About the team names, you're wrong, of course u can use TeamED but instead of that you could just do it in game when creating team. First, name first worm as Agent, then second worm as Agent and press space once, then third Agent and two spaces and so on, there u got 8 Agents without any empty space before or after the names

Just tested it and can confirm it. Didn't know that before.

For worm names the spaces only work at the end.
For team names spaces work only in front of them, but they don't get removed in the game.

you cant however have multiple team names the same.

In offline games you can have and use multiple team names that are exactly the same. You will not be able to insert a team in an online game if it is exactly the same as an already selected team. You can however insert a team with a name that appears exactly the same as another selected team by having characters in it that are not in the game's font set.
