You turn your computer off properly I presume?

from most likely to least likely
1. you aren't turning your computer off properly.
2. you somehow scheduled chkdsk to run every time you restart the computer
3. you installed a faulty driver
4. a system file is damaged
5. you have some kind of virus

6. evil mutant green aliens thingies broke in and wrecked havoc on your computer:p

Or:
7. Your disk is starting to break. Try to back up important files
(This happened to me 2 months before my HDD broke. Luckily, it was just in one small palce, so almost all files were recovered (it was the area for Windows startup that was damaged; it BSOD'd every startup.))

Start > Turn off.

Yes, well thats what it says when i want to defrag... but thats nor really helping me.

3. you installed a faulty driver
No wai.

4. a system file is damaged
uhhh....

5. you have some kind of virus
Could be, Norman gives me Trojan alerts all the time, telling me it cant remove it... Hitman Pro 2 can't even find em...

6. evil mutant green aliens thingies broke in and wrecked havoc on your computer:p
That could be the problem

7. Your disk is starting to break.
Well, that would be weird. but it only checks D:, not C:

Well if it starts doing it for C: as well, that could be the problem.

Could be, Norman gives me Trojan alerts all the time, telling me it cant remove it... Hitman Pro 2 can't even find em...load windows in safe mode, and then scan

1. restart your computer
2. rapidly press F8 on your keyboard
3. use the arrow keys to select "safe mode" (or "safe mode with networking" if you want internet"
4. log on as administrator (if you have professional, you might need a password)
5. run another scan
6. delete all viruses
7. restart computer

8. while you're at it, try to find those little green alien thingies if you're so sure:p
