The Triangle is used as the A before PSP. They had to use the Square as something, right?

Maybe they could have broken it slightly and used it as an L, but then that would contravene their own terminology standards.

Well, that's not strictly true. Sony have been known to break the law while advertising the PSP (see "graffitti ads", above).

In the case of this blog though, you're quite right; that's just standard viral marketing, and not a bad way of doing it at that. It's just too utterly unbelievable, so instead of going out and buying PSPs, people have laughed at it. Whether it was intended to get rumbled to generate publicity or if was just common or garden incompetence, we may never know.

sony's marketing department is practically asking to be fired. I don't think I've seen them make a good desicion for the past year.

I really hate sony's marketing. I mean, I can't stand the PSP commercials here, with the stupid talking dustballs. And what was up with that UK train ad "take a running jump" thing? I like the PSP a lot, but hate Sony.

Their advertising really is rather annoying. The thing that irritates me about sony is that they always seem to copy nintendo. Well atleast once nintendo come out with something new and cool, sony has a copy they try to make two times better shortly after. Such as rumble packs on the n64 (daul rumble on the ps controller later) and analog stick on the n64 (two on the ps controller a little after) sholder buttons on the snes and n64 (4 on the ps). Then I have the impression they copied the wii's controller thing were it moves (I forget what its called) with the same thing on the playstation controller. Perhaps I am just paranoid...

I didn't have a huge problem with it, except people kept calling it "sexy" (These people are saying that they are sexually attracted to an inanimate object. This annoys me) and there weren't any games that interested me apart from what Team17 brought out.

It was banned in a lot of areas. It's clear why, but still... it's a shame to keep such a well done and funny commercial from view.

Well. I cant actually get onto the site. But I must point out that the PSP is actually a very nifty, fun device.

well, I think sony used to work for nintendo, I think they made the hardware for thier consoles before the playstation was out, and playstation would've been a nintendo console, except they never finished it, so sony finished it off, released it as the playstation, under thier own name. as far as I know, they still work for nintendo.

I think that story dose sound somewhat familier to me. You could be right, but I dont think they still work for nintendo...unless there is some huge conspiracy going on! Any one else have any input on this?

I am afraid I have to disagree with you. The fact that the joystick is in a very awkward place, when having to use it its not too comfortable. Most of the time I use the d-pad on it whenever I can. Just the whole layout of the controller is awkward. I have to say the current best controller comfort wise is the gamecube one.

Probably just because Nintendo and Sony operate two utterly incompatible business models. Sony couldn't do what Nintendo do and Nintendo wouldn't want to do what Sony do. It would be like Microsoft and Google competing; they operate so differently they'd just end up bickering. I expect that's what caused them to stop working together in the first place.

hmmm... maybe my hands just grew to suit it.
I think it just depends on what you use first, or use the most, as I used a n64 before a playstation, I was used to that setup, but when I changed to a playstation it was quite hard at first, and I sometimes had to look at the buttons just to see what I was doing. if you just switch controllers for, say, one day (using someone else's console I suppose) then normally it's not as easy as if you were using your own controller.

never noticed that about the D-pad, though. I guess you're mostly right there. D-pads aren't really used for movement any more, and the D-pad is only used for menus and such.

the buttons.... ok, there's a couple more syllables, I guess, so they are harder to say. but once you remember where they are, you don't really need to know thier names anymore. if you're talking to someone else, usually I'd just say the function (shoot, etc.) that they should do, not usually what buttons to press.

It went great with us! We told all the students in our block and started a real fake bloodbath! Some kid recorded it on his cellphone but he erased it, THE LITTLE BUGGER! It was hell of fun!

Pretty much, the shooter says BANG, and the victim counts up to 10. During this they can move, and no one else can shoot them. When they're done, they're back in the game.
And you can be shot twice.

It relies a lot on honesty, so you have to be sure that you aren't playing with lame people.
