Hello everyone!
So I got a new laptop and I wanna play Worms on it... :)
It plays fine, however after about 1 or 2 minutes, the colors get distorted... :( I took a screenshot, it doesn't show exactly what I saw (for some reason), but it's still similar:

Is there a fix for this? I tried the Service Pack, but then it asks me for my CD even though it's in there... (And no, it's not bootlegged)

Thanks! ;)

This is caused by another program stealing the focus of WWP, thus switching from the paletted colors the game uses to the desktop colors.
Check for programs that use an "always on top" feature like instant messengers, Winamp, etc.
Stardock's Object Desktop is also known to cause this.

Trial and error by turning of one program after another should help. Then deactivate the "always on top" feature or the whole program itself.

The paletted colors are the same reason for the odd colors when making a screenshot with the print screen button.
Use tools like www.fraps.com for making screenshots.

This is highly likely caused by using the wrong patch (=service pack). There's an European, American and Polish version.
Trial and error again, although you probably don't have the Polish version.

Also, before patching, install the game and move your mouse cursor over the logo in the main menu and check what version you have. V1.01 is the patched version.
Maybe it already came pre-patched (mostly with budget re-releases) and you don't have to patch at all.

Another thing that can help is to right-click the .exe file, go to properties, then compatability, and then check the box marked run in 256 colours.

Although this won't entirely solve the colour problem, it will make it less severe should it occur again. But as bonz said, close all other programs first (except Norton Antivirus and the such if you're going to play online). And don't run any palette hungry program like the GIMP before playing Worms. If I ever open the GIMP, I have to restart my computer before playing WWP.

Worms Armageddon doesn't have this problem thankfully.

Well, almost the same problem here.
But the game worked fine a few weeks and now all of a sudden (started today), there is this graphic error...
Looks almost like that screen from Leo, but I can only see the worms, the oil drums and crates...everything else is just black.
I treid to switch to 256 colors, but doesn't change anything and I just rebooted my pc, started worms (not a single other program) and the problem was still there...

I changed nothing on my system, no graphic-drivers, nothing...

I would add a screenshot, but when I take one with Fraps...it looks just fine...

EDIT:
Oh, maybe my system is of any use:
AMD Athlon 64 3000+
Windows XP Home - SP2
GeForce 6600GT 128MB
1 GB RAM
WWP SP2 German Version

...and as I said before, nothing changed and the only thing I installed recently was that last.fm-audioscrobbler-thingy and the error occures even if I deactivate it.

Try closing software and retrying WWP until WWP works. On my machine, with a GeForce 6800 XT card and the latest nVidia ForceWare, WWP will have a bad palette problem if WinAmp is running. When it's not running, WWP works perfectly.

Ok...that worked...I disabled SnagIt (a tool for making pictures, something like Fraps) and after that I started WWP and it worked fine...but why? I had SnagIt enabled and played WWP without problems for a long time and now it's causing trouble? Strange, but well, it works, that's all that counts.
Thx a lot :)
