Yes, I do believe the background in a detailed image is just as, usually more, important than the actual characters or creatures or whatever.

Pigbuster's made me go whoa with all those weird monsters, his and slick's are equal to me so I won't vote :)

I haven't decided yet, either... I can't make up my mind between Slick and Pigbuster. Though Philby's is also pretty great...

This compo had great entries, therefore, i'll explain why i didn't vote in most of them... maybe you can use the advice to improve in the future, and why not.

I would think about voting for cisken if he had put some more caring into his entry. It seems that it was made in a hurry. I'm not quite sure why. Probably because of that burnt worm and the sketchyness feel of the whole thing.

I would, perhaps, vote for alien king if he had thought of a more interesting scene... it looks kinda... dull or something with zero just standing there looking upwards. A nice background would come naturally with a more interesting scene. The problem here seems to lie in the concept and not on the skills.

I would, maybe, vote for philbs if he had done a better job at the background. That plain grey isn't very catchy. Although he made a good job with those weapons.

I would likely vote for pb if his lineart wasn't so shivery and the colouring didn't look so blurry. I use to colour just like that when i started. I would *suggest* you to use harder brushes for a more "cell-shaded" feel or reduce the smoothness of the brush a tiny bit. If you're not into cell-shading, then some highlight areas would be great.

I'd like to state a note to the cuteness of mtlangelus drawing and the weirdness of wormmad's. Wormmad would most certainly my vote for the creativity prize.

Those are only my personal opinion and nothing more than that. So, please, don't come flaming me. I most certainly have a lot to improve myself and if was participating i would apreciate constructive comments like this one.
