Hi,

Yesterday I found my good ol' WWP CD behind a book, so I installed it and began playing.
It worked fine.
I also noticed that there is a patch, so D/L and install...
(I installed the correct one btw..., EU version, Spanish)
But today, when I try to go to the Multiplayer menu, it freezes. Just shows a black screen.
Also, on the lower 1/3 part of the screen the pointer appears (the normal Windows one).
The worst of all is that I can't Alt-Tabbing, start the Task Manager or anything. I have to shut down the laptop manually.

This is my computer data:
Processor: Intel Pentium 4 (Speed Run Test) 2.90 Ghz
Graphics card: ATI Mobility Radeon X1400, with drivers v8.204.0.0 (lastest)
RAM: 1 GB
Windows XP Home ed. with SP2 (original)

I tried to make an ISO of the unpatched game and run it with DAEMON tools. It works, so I believe it's the patch fault. If I try to run an unpatched game with the CD, it works too.

So, is there a way to make the patch work fine? I only want it for bugfixes btw, I dont plan to play online.

Thankyou

PD: Single Player crashes, but the option menu shows correctly.

EDIT: It WAS the patch. I solved it now, but I still have the same question, is it a way to make the patch work?

turn your firewalls off and try to play offline... some firewalls will show a message when a program calls a second program which is what happens in w:a / wwp and this behavior may crash the game.

I have three suggestions.

1. Try delete your "current.thm" file found in your "%\Worms World Party\data" folder. Sometimes this file can become corrupt and cause problems.

2. Such a problem occurs if there is a problem with your "Landgen.exe" application found in your "%\Worms World Party" folder. Although I find it strange that this would be a problem for you because most people (except me) do not tinker with their Landgen.exe file. You might want to try replacing this file with a working one by re-installing, requesting the file from someone else, or by running CutWorm.

3. An image file is missing. WWP will crash if it cannot find a needed image for the multiplayer screen frontend. Yet, this shouldn't be a problem for you because I am sure you are a good person who paid money to buy a CD version of the game, which would install itself properly.

Note: Incase you were wondering; I do not think having a scratched CD would cause such a problem because there doesn't seem to be any files that need to be retrieved from the CD in order to load the multiplayer screen.

but doesnt it verify your cd is valid each time you go there?

Maybe the cd already came with the patch. When you go to the main menu and put your cursor on the Worms World Party logo, it will show what version your game is at the bottom of the screen. If it says v1.0, you dont have the patch. If it says v1.01, you do have the patch.
