See, if they'd just made enough of them to begin with, this never would have happened. I don't even know why they stagger the release -- it's not as if the PS3 was a high-risk venture (although it is now, what with the complete hash they're making of selling and distributing it). You'd think it'd be easier to make enough to go round then sell them everywhere at once.

WRAUNG, there is a shortage of blue LEDs, possible because there has (up until now) been quite a small market for them :p

It's leading to their downfall, remember what happened to the Dreamcast, it was highly advertised, and it turned out to be a HUGE FLOP!!!! (I believe it shouldn't have happened.)

Call me a cynic, but I don't think it's anything to do with storage or game experience. Oh, no, I'm going to say it's Sony's way of trying to get an early foothold for their next generation DVD, by sneaking players into people's homes in the form of PS3s.

And yet, Sony still jack up the price of the PS3 and delay the launch, and then say "yes, but that's because of the Blu-Ray". We don't want your Blu-Ray, and we certainly didn't ask for it. There's no way we should be charged for it.

Well, I think bluray is dumb. I'd rather swap DVD's during gameplay should that be nessisary.

Yes, that in and of itself is a pretty smart business move (although if they had a bigger market share in consoles it could be considered abuse of a monopoly), but to then expect the consumer to wait and pay extra for the blu-ray drive that Sony would like us all to have is a bit harsh.

I think the average consumer got bored of this kind of thing after Betamax and Minidisc and DVD-A Versus Super CD and so forth and so on ad infinitum. There are very few early adopters left. People, myself included, tend to wait until the market picks a winner.

The one thing I am worried about is how many movie-producing companies have already agreed to sell out to the bluray.

Then why haven't I seen any ads for GOOD movies released to Blu-Ray?
The format has been out for half a year. You'd think that would be enough time.

I'm against Blu-Ray mostly because I'm annoyed by all of the pretentious types that say how it's already won over HDDVD because it's more powerful and has more support.
They seem to forget that power and support doesn't mean crap if people don't care enough to buy a $1000+ player for it.

ooh, and hddvd is much better because you can watch teletubbies and the phantom of the opera (1983) on hd quality :D
