I read in a recent post from Spadge that Worms Armaggedon will not be coming to Xbox Live Arcade and that there is no 3D Worms game planned for current or next-gen consoles. I have to question why Worms is pushed aside. For one, I don't agree that W:A is a "hard-core" game. It's a light-hearted cartoonish style 2D strategy game. It does take a little getting used to, but by no means is it entirely intended for a hard-core base. I can see how Lemmings lends itself to better pick up and play but there is nowhere near the variety of gameplay or the multiplayer aspect (which the latter has become expected of Live Arcade games). Secondly, I can understand wanting to do new and different things, but why set aside your best selling franchise? Worms Mayhem on Xbox suffers from a bad online structure and without a patch to fix issues such as team names and inverted controls, I was looking forward to a next-gen version. Now I'm stuck with a semi-decent game with no outlook for a fully developed successor to take advantage of Live online functionality.
