If you have worms 2 installed, do you have a registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\App Paths\Worms2.Exe\Path ? And if so, does it really point to your Worms 2 path? Are there any other keys that point to it?
I'm trying to determine the best way to detect a WA install, and it seems they create that key.
I have that key, but the path it points to is the path where I originally installed WA.
I'd say you should do a few things to check for a WA install. First, yes, check that registry key. Don't count on it to give you the correct WA path though. Then, if it's not there, check for HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Team17SoftwareLTD\Worms Armageddon. Then, check for C:\MicroProse\Worms Armageddon. Then, check for C:\Team17\Worms Armageddon. Then, check for C:\Worms Armageddon. Then, check for C:\Program Files\Worms Armageddon. C:\Games\Worms Armageddon. Substitute "C:" for the main drive letter. Um, yes.
We really need that IRC channel you mentioned.
This reminds me, you asked about the Soldout version of WA, I've tried my best to knock up a page with the right details.
I saw that page earlier, MrBunsy. Thanks for your valuable contribution. :) Did you read everything MadEwokHerd wrote and compare it with what happens when you install the Sold-Out Software release?

I think so, I copied the whole of the European Microprose page and went through it confirming or changing everything. I can't tell for sure wether everything was extracted from data1.cab though. I might try one of those programmes to have a look inside.
/edit - it is all from data1.cab I presume _user1.cab and _sys1.cab are common to all installshield installers? I've never looked too closely at how they work.

In the US version, the _*.cab files appear to be things used by the installer, not files that are actually installed (such as pictures displayed during the install process).
Edit: You should really look into the contents of data1.cab. It's not the same between the European and US versions.
Edit2: Ideally you should go through the process manually and compare the result to what the installer does. That's what I did for the US/European versions. I understand that might not be practical, and I appreciate any information you do get.
I've still got a couple of days before I got to college, so I might have time to give it a shot.
Using i5comp I was able to list the cotents of data1.cab, what would you like me to try and do with it exactly?
/I'm confused. Probably because it's late and it's really warm in here, but i'll post this and hopefully what you just said will make sense when I'm more awake.

Look at http://wiki.thecybershadow.net/American_release_%28Worms_Armageddon%29
That cab has four different groups, and each one goes in a different place. I need to know what the groups are called and where they go if there are more than one.
Ahh right. I'll take a look at that then.
