I was playing Worms 4 online with my friend and I suddenly thought about a worms mmorpg and how amazing that'd be.

I googled it and ended up finding Worms Renegade which brought me here, and while I'm glad to see some guys have been working on one, I wonder if Team 17 has considered the idea.

I mean I have some delusions of grandeur of something like World of Warcraft with Worms, but even something not quite on that scale would still be really fun and I think people would respond to it. I mean the mmorpg genre, while community based, still revolves around the idea of combat and fighting to gain experience. And Worms excels at hilarious combat. Imagine doing quests and pvp battles where attacks involve supersheep and holy-hand grenades. It'd be a huge undertaking, but it'd be an amazing game. The worms' sense of humor would be refreshing in an mmorpg environment, I think.

Anyone else share this craving?

I'm fairly sure it could be done, but I can't imagine it being any good as an MMORPG. the closest I can imagine would be something like BF2 or something along those lines (first-person worms game where, as you kill things, you get exp to get weapon upgrades). if done right it would be similar enough to an MMORPG, but it would be walking a tight-rope of awesomeness that's suspended above a pit of crappiness. it would have to be done just right or it would suck.

Well, if pulled off correctly, it could be good. But I think it would be very hard to do that.

Nonono, I think we all know you're attitude to a worms RPG game by now.

I think leaving worms aside, a comical mmorpg would be quite fun.

Marc aka Flamie, myself, Mini, Wyvern, and others have been working on WR for a while, and we've been generating a lot of interesting ideas, we intend to make the game plenty original, and in scale, we do intend filling the game to the brim with sidequests and a genuinely interesting, mysterious plot :cool:. Of course the game will have a fairly lighthearted/ comical feel to most of it, and the art I've been doing has been fairly cartoony for the most part. In any case though, it's not 100% based on worms, mainly considering there's not much of a worms plot to branch off of, but most aspects of the game are fitting with what wormers would enjoy.
