View Full Version : Hans Blix

I thought seeing as this section of the forum has become a free for all in terms of "On-topicness", that I should advertise my "Ambience/Post Rock" band, "Hans Blix".
We've currently a four piece, myself playing the guitar and writing lyrics. Currently, the songs on site have no lyrics and only consist of myself and the keyboard player. Due to the fact we've only recently added a drummer and a bassist to our ranks.
The songs are effectively "live" because we don't have the technology to record each instrument seperatley. So when we record (using an MP3 player's microphone function) it is a live take. Meaning it's quite fun and daunting.
Anyway, I hope you enjoy our music. If you have MySpace, add us and drop us a comment.
Cheers

Yes. It's an interesting sound, with the piano. (Or whatever that is...keyboard?)
Damn, I thought this was a thread about the bald-headed Swedish diplomat/politician. :p Nice stuff you've got there! I'm especially liking the plinky-plonky piano-ness in Skopun.

Quite ambiency-ish indeed, but it's not that much interesting just to focus on hearing it, would make nice background music for a movie/animation/game tough.
You need more riffs man, and some guitar solo's, keep it interesting :p
Also, try Audacity (http://audacity.sourceforge.net/), it's a great free recording program. If you want to record each piece separetely etc; I think the current quality is good enough tough.

Yeah, with the new drummer this is what were seeking. The whole of "Nautlius's" solo was improvised, only today did I find out what scale I was playing it in (Aeolian in E).
I agree with the focusing part, we'll probably start heading in a more rock direction. Nautilus was also in Drop-D tuning, so i'll write some riff's around that.
We've also got a new song called "ANDTHENASGHOSTS", which is more of a slow piano + vocal song. It's lovely, i'll give you a snippet of the lyrics.
"Roam the night/take back the dead hours/where the flowers/ don't bloom in the light".
May not sound like much, but it's quite nice. I wrote the lyrics and my friend Stephen (keyboards guy) wrote the melody. We've sung it too and it sounds great.
What do you guys think of the riff in "Skopun"?

You mean the intro guitar part? I like how it translates from Grainy guitar into clean Piano, as for the riff itself, well it didn't give me an urge to play it myself, but I guess it's still fine :p
And yay for drums!
New Hans Blix song : Trinity is up!

Drumming seems a bit off. Other than that, nice.

Liking Trinity quite a bit, but the drumming is far too loud.
Yeah. The place where we recorded it was a Church, so the acoustics were all off.
Can anybody figure out the meaning of the name? :p (in corrospondance to the song)

Why should I tell you?
He was working on the theory that your girlfriend was called 'Trinity'?
He was working on the theory that your girlfriend was called 'Trinity'?It's incorrospondance to the song. The actual music itself. Meh. I may as well reveal why it's called "Trinity". The song have three "movements" (like in symphonies) and it was also recorded in the church. Originially it was going to be called "Triad", until we thought that we should combine the fact that we recorded it in a church in. Hence "Trinity".

If it was Triad, would you record it in Chinatown/China?
Oh, no! Hans Brix!
