View Full Version : Bunch of problems: 256-color, poor performance, etc

Whenever I run WWP, it runs at 640x40 and in 256-color mode (for a 2000 game?!), the Team17 and Titus logos are horribly dithered (everything was fine in Worms Armageddon)

I installed the patch, but that made things much worse, now everything is black and there's really bad pallete-shifting.

I haven't launched any games yet, but the menu performance is really slow and I can't skip past the logos

I've got a GeForce 6800GT (and a GeForce MX 440 as my seconday), what's going on?

slow menu's can not be fixed.... and for colour corruption i dunno... also most 2d worms games are in 256 colour... because it was easy and cheaper to draw graphics in that mode.

"Slow menu bug": you could only revert to drivers of v66.93 or older. Or get a different graphics card. All other solution attempts mentioned in this thread (http://forum.team17.co.uk/showthread.php?t=24550) have failed.

Color palette corruption: You probably have a program running in the background or while playing the game that steals the game's focus due to a feature like "always on top".

Try switching off any programs one by one until it works.
Then try to find how to turn of that option.

Such programs can be: instant messengers (ICQ, MSN,...), Winamp, Object Desktop

Skipping past the intro: add -nointro in wwp shortcut "blahblah\wwp.exe" -nointro

/nointro is for wa, -nointro is for wwp.

I should really read the title of the subforum I'm in.
It could make me look like a n00b.
Like Lex. :D

Nah, you have an excuse for not looking at the title: you're completely bonkers.

Out of interest, isn't WWP run using 256 colours anyway?

Lex

It is. All the graphics are pre-rendered in 8-bit mode too.

Which is a shame, Worms Armageddon looks better.

...has anyone developed an open-source Worms engine yet? Newtonian physics engines aren't hard to create.

W:A also runs on 256 colours.

No; but a game that took a professional team a lot of effort to create is hard to recreate.

To quote from that topic:
As cleared above, none of the ways work and at the moment there is no way of solving this problem.
