Nah, that's a crappy 'remake' which looks worse than the original. Nice work supporting an (arguably) dying portable with loads of potential, Doug.

I think he's refering to old EWJ cartoons airing on Nick right now. Then again I don't get that channel. Oh well, there's always Youtube.

HIghly annoying, yes, but at least it has some merit. It's better than a lot of the drive you get on kids' TV.

(Though I'm just a sucker for anything with incredibly evil but completely impotent villains. They're always good for a laugh.)

Apparently it's a kid-friendly version of Doug's past comic "Gear" (or something by those lines) which was something about cats controlling huge robots, which looked like a more cartoony version of Neverhood. Which is much better than the current Catscratch which to me seems like sort of a Ren and Stimpy ripoff.

They changed the art style too, and from a few Gear scans I've seen the old art style was much more appealing. But still, Neverhood-style music would definetely save it. Oh how I loved Neverhood's soundtrack...

I don't really have much to say in this thread since we don't have Nicktoons and such, and whenever we get their shows on other channels they're usually dubbed. And needless to say stuff like Fairly Odd Parents, Earthworm Jim and Sam & Max really lose their charm that way. :(

Pinky and the Brain is a bit too 'serious' and mature for my retarded self. I personally enjoyed Animaniacs and Freakazoid a lot more. Tiny Toon Adventures was also nice.

...quit looking at me like that, it was. :p Sort of like a more 'normal' version of Animaniacs. Back to Nick I've only recently watched a few episodes of Rocko's modern life too, pretty funny even if I don't really like that art style that much.

Oh yes, Pinky And The Brain is fantastic. Like I say, I do love malovolent but impotent characters. It is, in a large part, far too childish for my tastes, but it's a children's show, so I should probably expect that. It does have some clever stuff in sometimes.

I think I like pinky and the brain now because- it has good animation- the plots are very creative- they have new characters in each episode- and it manages to be funny without using fart jokes, or being rude, or plain random.

not many shows can pull that last one off.

Earthworm Jim 3D is crap. To the max.

The new PSP version is starting to look better than it did a few months ago. It's still early days, and they say they've got a lot to do to it... the previews i've read so far seem to be pretty good. There's apparently a 'Birds and the Bees' level where Jim gets caught up in a war between the birds and the bees, and a level where you're saving baby watermelons. It sounds like they've got the humour from the originals intact, but I really really really REALLY hope that Shiny don't mess it up.

From what I've seen in the current gameplay footage, I REALLY hope they change the level design, character models and overall style of the game. Jim's new model looks fine, yet everything else needs improving.

An early gameplay vid I've seen on Youtube was downright terrible from a graphical standpoint (such as the stupid flash effects when Jim grapples onto something), and the level itself looked like a really crappy 2.5D version of New Junk City. What I did like however were the new jetpack moves that might add some new stuff to classic EWJ gameplay. Also, the bit of Jim dancing at the end was too cheesy for words and seemed like a failed attempt at humour.

Then again, it's work-in-progress so I REALLY hope everything gets remade in the final version. I also hope that's not an actual level in the game. I mean, the PSP has some damn good hardware, it'll be a shame to just keep everything like this. And even if they completely remake everything, I fear that it might turn out as a repetitive side-scrolling shooter, without any of those really weird yet fun moments in the originals. So yeah, I really hope they won't rush it. This and a couple other good games might actually make me want to invest in a PSP, who knows.

And saving baby watermelons seems pretty amusing, for some reason

So just sit back and relax
You'll laugh 'til you collapse
We're Animaniacs!

Come join the Warner Brothers

But we break loose and then vamoose
And now you know the plot!

Dot is cute and Yakko yaks.

Goodfeathers flock together; Slappy whacks 'em with her purse.
Buttons chases Mindy, while Rita sings a verse.

Why bother to rehearse?

Dispite his gret big muscles,
And his really big ray gun,

He's the only one,

Really superstrong,
Jim can be a winner if we only sing along ALRIGHT
