Yes. DA has a new version up.
http://www.deviantart.com/

Some people like it.
Some people think it's HELL SPAWN.
And some people have Opera, and it looks like the website threw up.
POST YOUR OPINIONS AND "WHY IT NOT THE GOOD" or "IT SO YAH" FACTOIDS IN THIS THREAD , YA'LL.
Or just ignore it if you don't care.

I'm okay with it, apart from some bugs that have to be worked out. (Not being able to reply to messages in Safari, a particularly serious one.)
And heck, at least it doesn't have any mummies.

It looks good to me, but it has some annoying bugs that have to be fixed as soon as possible (I can't jump to the next page of a forum-thread, for example, although I was so happy at first that they finally actually HAVE pages... -.- )

It's alright. It'll take me a bit of getting used to, but I'm like that with every software update.

There are still a few bugs though, it took a few tries to empty my message centre yesterday.

but the music is good

No, it's rubbish in Opera. If you scroll up it scrolls down, and if you scroll down it scrolls down, which makes life difficult. And it doesn't quite render right.

I think it looks neat on FF. Haven't tried it on IE.

There's a thread about the problem on Opera forums (it's dA's fault): http://my.opera.com/community/forums/topic.dml?id=153100

If you can't be bothered to read, they made a temporary solution there. If your Opera version has the "Edit site preferences" feature:

1. Save this file somewhere in your computer: http://my.opera.com/Undertow/homes/files/deviantfix.js
2. Go to www.deviantart.com
3. Right-click and select "Edit site preferences"
4. On "Site", replace "www.deviantart.com" with "deviantart.com" or "*.deviantart.com" so it affects all of dA's subdomains.
5. Go to the Scripting tab and select the downloaded file as the User Javascript File (bottom of window).
6. This should fix the scrolling and overlay problem. :)

DA seems to be working with Opera now (for me anyway). Although there are still some flaws (even with IE).

The new scheme is horrible.

I think thoose whiteish boxes are too bright. They need a darker color to fit in with the background. More like the navigation menu on the top of the site. But the flow of the site is nice.

I like it. Except the fact it took me five minutes to find out where the Update Journal/Setting/et al buttons were.

I like the new features, but not the new look.

And yeah, it seems they finally fixed the problems with Opera themselves.

My main grouch is that I can no longer tell at a glance the contents of my message centre. I used to be able to go "Right, I have one new Hot Topic, two new Misc. messages, three new comments, two new forum messages, four new journals and a new poll" before I even clicked on the message centre, which allowed me to prioritise which bits of it to look at first. Now they just get lumped under the general heading of "Messages".

I've heard other people complain about that. Maybe they'll change it back.

I don't get why they don't build DeviantSkin directly into the site.
I can't run the code on safari, but I looked at it, and it doesn't look too complex. It would solve all of those "I don't like the white on the pages." arguments.
Though maybe they are doing something like that. I dunno. I haven't been paying too much attention.

Someone sure hates DA... go Akuryou?

I suspect that they're just a troll, and that feeding them does no good, but...
What that passage states is the obvious fact that by having artwork posted onto the internet, it allows anyone to download the image from the site to their computer. That's all that it's saying.

Also, you left out the first sentence: "deviantART does not claim ownership rights in Your Content." Not sure if that means anything, but you left it out. You just don't do that. it makes people suspicious that you're manipulating information.

"The fact remains, however, that they CAN. That's a pretty big problem."
But the larger fact remains that they WON'T. If DA sold out someone's work, it would kinda make every single one of the artists immensely angry at them, wouldn't it? Your argument that they have the ability to do so doesn't stand up to the fact that they won't since if they did, word would get out, and everyone would leave.

This is the last place I'd expect you to turn up...

That reply to Akuryou gives the impresion that Deviantart sucks is an aquaintance of his.

Personaly I like the new version. It's faster and I haven't had to reload a page because it failed to load yet.

I have.

But maybe that's because I'm loading 50+ deviations at once.

With the old version I had to reload evey three or so pages.:p

It's an improvement!

It's been doing an awful lot of "deviantART is currently in read-only mode for system maintenance" lately...well, a new patch was released. when was the last time you've seen something work entirely perfect after a new patch? granted, dA's latest was a bit rougher than usual, but if you've ever played an MMORPG you've seen worse :p
