TransGaming, the guys who brought you "Cedega: Windows games on Linux" now also bring you "Cider: Windows games on Mac"!

Yes, I know there's Boot Camp, I'm just being informative. :p

That's the end of Mac ports.

Not necessarily a bad thing, but still.

Yes, but you need a (legal) version of Windows to do this.
And which Mac user is going to buy one?

Hey, I really like the president (http://www.transgaming.com/index.php?module=ContentExpress&func=display&ceid=34&meid=8) & the founder (http://www.transgaming.com/index.php?module=ContentExpress&func=display&ceid=35&meid=8) of Transgaming Inc.! :D

How isn't it?
Note that I bought my new iMac maybe a week or so before I heard about the intel version.
And as far as I know, the intel chip can't be just put in, I'd have to get a whole new computer.
Not even sure that I WANT to, as a lot of my old mac os X games wouldn't work on it, I don't think.
Maybe I'm worrying too much.

You can pick up oldish versions of Windows fairly cheaply. Until we start to see Vista-only games, which probably won't be for a fair while -- until there are enough Vista users to justify it, that ought to suffice.

A lot cheaper than a second computer, and probably cheaper than the games you'd buy for it.

That should shorten the estimated userbase quite allot =P

At the moment, BootCamp only works with XP SP2 - which you can then upgrade (via Windows) to Vista.

Ah. Doesn't affect me because I have an Intel MacBook.

I was just saying that this technology might bring more developers to the Mac platform, because it can take games and run them on the Mac without the messiness of ports. Native games are nicer in some cases (World of Warcraft), but for the most part I think this will have a positive impact on the state of Mac gaming.
