Hey, how are ya? So, anyway, I've really gotten into Walk For Weapons (I can't remember the last time someone thought up something this awesome), and I was wondering if anyone knew where I could maybe grab some maps? I checked out the WMDB, and they had a few, but not too many (which is understandable, since the game seems to still have a hard time connecting with the larger crowd). If anyone's got any they'd like to share or knows a direction to point me in, I'd appreciate it so much (I'm definitely going to be a WFW-enthusiast on Wormnet once I get a good map collection rolling. I'm gonna try to get more people to play it).

Thank you for reading!

PS: I'm surprised that there aren't any WFW maps on BTP...

Well, WMDB pretty-much has all of the WFW maps in existence. Making a WFW map is a painful process, and not many people have undertaken it. I started making a WFW map myself, but I never finished it. Would you like to try making some WFW maps? :)

Repeating a joke endlessly is only funny when it's about beer and certain companies in Wakefield.

Wow, I knew the selection of maps for WFW was quite scarce, but I wasn't aware it was THAT scarce...

I suppose if it means having more WFW maps to play on, I'd like to take a shot at making one, but could someone game me a few pointers? I'm very inexperienced when it comes to map-making, so the more information the better.

Like I said in the opening post, I'm really enthusiastic about making this WFW a little bigger, and I'm definitely willing to put the time into making maps so that there's lots of variety for it. So, anything you guys could suggest would be helpful, but remember that I have absolutely NO map-making experience (not like this, anyway), and I'd really require %100 of all the details if I'm going to do this thing. The program to use, where I can find the weapon incons, etcetera and so forth.

Thank you very much, in advance. And thanks for respoding.

Heh. I wonder if Plutonic would be interested in adding wfw to his MapGen program. Of course it could never be perfect but it would definitely create variety.

WfW is already in the works, although RR is to be the next release, wfw after that :)

Shysh, what's your WormNet nickname? I often idle in the channels as "KRD", so if you're interested we could play a few games and I'll share my vision about what's in my opinion appreciated in WFW maps. However, I haven't actually made any myself yet, so for specific tips we should probably get someone like Wyvern to play with us.

Ain't that right, Wyv!

On Wormnet I go by Cannonmouth.

I'll be glad to set up a time to play some WFW, except for tonight since there's a party going on here in about half an hour. But yeah, if I ever see you on Wornmnet or you want to schedule something right here, I'd totally be down with that.

Bonz, thanks for the images, though I think I'll need a lot more information if I'm going to start making maps. I'll just put this out there so it's nice and clear: I know nothing about this stuff. Less then nothing.

...

Well, if no one else can contribute any advice, does anyone have a site I could go to learn more about map-making (or WFW map-making, specifically)? Especially for beginners.

Here's a nice comprehensive map-making tutorial http://home.iprimus.com.au/vahagn/wmmt/

If you sign up for CL2K you can find some relevant threads in this forum http://www.cl2k.org/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=189 (you might have to search back a few months)

I'm just going to resist the urge to respond with anything corrective, as it's really not that important. Go me! I'm getting off my correction-of-unimportant-mistakes addiction!
