I'm sure he was/is a Team17 member, judging by his email address and domain. :)

A long, long time ago. We had a multimedia department and he was the French translator.

"John Trollope - John -dot- Trollope -at- Team17 -dot- com \ "Un dictionnaire,
French translator and product localiser \ c'est tout l'univers"

MtlAngelus

Do you need more?

SupSuper
7 Aug 2006, 14:38
Exactly. Team17's games were never that text-intensive to require more than one or two translators.

True, True.

"All the new beta features" were just a few sentences and a handful of words, but it barely took me an hour to come up with ideas and translate others.

Fortunately, they were drunk enough that they got it right.

Fortunately, they were drunk enough that they got it right.
They probably made a tour to various pubs, bars, tavernes and cantinas across Europe, where they found people like John Trollope, Bjørn Lynne and Kenny(-on-a-rope) Magnusson hanging around.

I assume you used babelfish to translate that sentence, too.

Muzer

er... no. I just kept missing keys.

Vader
14 Aug 2006, 17:54
You were also hitting the wrong keys superfluously.

It was more of a dig at babelfish than at your post. Meh.

"Old bonds fish de Confusion"

Means "Good old Babel fish" translated into Italian and back. Oh the hours of fun that can be had with online translators...

/edit

"Old fishes de the confusion of the fastenings" (and then russian and back)

"Long fish d U who becomes it locks confusion" (then Korean and back)

"Long you of vissenD that become it close misfiring" (and then dutch. Now it's lost even the 'fish')

I remember if you convert Worms Forts Under Siege into a certain language and back, it becomes "Worms' Forts under the seat"

EDIT: I did a load of mumbo jumbo. "Hello. Pie=mc2. Are you orange? Lobo!!!!! I have E-mails. Do you have post? Free! What is your favourite Screensaver."
Seems like this translator does strange things to quotation marks as well.

Chinese Simp.: Hello. Pie=mc2. You are the orange? Lobo! ! ! ! ! I have the email. You have the post? Free! What is your affection screen saver?
Chinese Trad.: "hello. Pie=mc2. You are the orange? Lobo! ! ! ! ! I have the email. You have the post? Free! What is your affection screen protection formula?" (lol! Screen protection folmula!)
Dutch: Hello. Pie=mc2. Are you oranje? Lobo!!!!! have I e-mail. Have you posts? Rather! What your favoriete Screensaver?"is
French: "hello. Pie=mc2. Are you orange? !!!!! of Lobo I have E-mail. Do you have the post? Free! What is your Screensaver favourite?"
German: "hello. Pie=mc2. Are you orange? Lobo!!!!! I have enamels. Do they have posts? Freely! Which is its favourite Screensaver?"
Greek: "Geja'soy. Pie=mc2. You are orange? Lobo!!!!! I have the electronic posts. Have the place? Free! What is your beloved Screensaver "
Italian: "hello. Pie=mc2. You are orange? !!!!! of the lobe I have E-maihi. You have starter shaft? Free! That what is your Screensaver favorite "
Japanese: "Today. It is the Pie=mc2. orange? Lobo! ! ! ! ! There is a E-mail in me. It possesses the post? Freedom! The screen saver of your taste is what. "
Korean (WTF?): "Hello. Pie=mc2. The orange color color which spreads out it happens? Lobo! ! ! ! ! Me there is a e-mail. There is a point which spreads out? It is free,! The thing screen saver which it holds in your mind what."
Portugese (now this is getting silly!): "hello. Pie=mc2. She is orange you? !!!!! of the wolf I have E-mais. You have the post? He exempts! What it is its Screensaver favourite person or thing."
Russian: "to zdravstvulte!. Pie=.mc2. You pomerantsovy? !!!!! Lobo I have and -m31la. You do have a post? It is free! He will be your favorite Screensaver."
Spanish: "hello. Pie=mc2. Are orange you? !!!!! of the wolf I have E-maices. You have post? He frees! Which is its Screensaver favorite."

Some of the teamsters probably have started taking sailing courses lately to navigate the galleon around the HQ.
