Maximum file size is 9.8Kb - that file is almost 20Kb - someone is going to have to cut a lot of the frames out.

the image size is 60x60 as well. but cutting it down to 50x50 WOULD put it quite a bit smaller, so it may not look TOO bad if managed to get into an avatar size.

i got an avator with only 5 frames in it but its 23kb i tried to shrink it down but even at 40x40 it was still 11kb and by then unreadable any hints on how to make the file size smaller without taking out a frame i am using imageready 7

Essentially, reducing an image's file size is just about taking things out of the picture.

Resizing (removing white space) will reduce the file size a bit. It will have more effect the busier the area you remove is. This is mainly because using less colours will reduce the file size. Obviously a smaller image results in a smaller filesize but you will notice more difference if the area you removed was a rainbow than if it was white or transparent.

Also, removing frames will reduce the file size. Again, the more colours in the frame you remove the better.

Try to use about 1/3-1/2 of the palette and use dithering to blend the colours together. It won't be quite as pretty but it will knock the file size down.

If your image isn't animated then try various image formats. PNG-8 is a good one as you can control the number of colours it uses and it can use transparency. Unfortunately it can't do animation, so for animated images you'll have to stick with GIF. JPEG can often come out smaller than PNG-8 but being a lossy compression format means you'll lose some detail/crispness.

Of course, this is only a very rough guide to shrinking images. I've probably omitted some very important info and told a few porkies en route. Oh well... commence replies which correct me.

This good? i've trimmed the canvas and cut out half of the frames...

or slower version:

I bet if the transparent background was filled in a colour then you could get that well inside 9.8kB without killing a single frame.

Probably, but by cutting only a few frames and cropping it, i got it to 8.3kB
