ZOMG IT'S VADER!!!!
Anyway....Nice animation. I like the fake motion blur and how it trails. But it's lacking a purpose.
"And without purpose, there is no point in living" -Smith
Its purpose was to experiment with held body animation, a low budget animation technique.
The shape is alittle strange but I figured I'd try something a bit new... it was half based on how the W:OW worms look to me but with some alterations of my own.
Glad you like it :)

Hope to see more animations from you! You were legendary at still art and I bet you'll be better like this! By the way, what program did you use? Flash? Easy Toon?
For thi I did the initial worm image in MS Paint then did the rest in ImageReady using the pencil too to draw each pixel.
It's very satisfying to do it that way.
I might do more pictures for old time's sake... we shall see.
It's very nice, but it would be better if the fire rate looked faster, and maybe with the shell casings flying out of it.

He did say it was a test. But yeah, that would be cool.
Welcome back, I swear I'll try to be less stupid and make more sense that I did back when you left.
About the gif, that's pretty great. Better than anything I could do, but that's not saying much. I like the motion blur, lighting and stuff, though the lack of an overbite sort of makes it different from your other pics. Still works with the sprite perfectly, though. Hope to see more stuff from you, while this forum lasts.
Vary goud.
I think you should do...MORE. :D

Sorry for the offtopic-ness, but you should stop posting comments like this. They're not all that funny and could easily get you watched.

Great, the lighting's especially good, as are the facial expressions.

yes, the lighting on his back is fab.
most would not go to that ammount of detail for a test subject. I certainly wouldn't.

I thought about adding the shell casings but it was very late at night/early in the morning and stuff.
Also, the fire rate is as high as it will go. It runs faster in ImageReady and I was a little disappointed with how it looks in Firefox but oh well.
Thanks for commenting :)

Hm...very nice,i remember when everyone used animated avs,and bothered to do them,i tried to make an nice animation with Imageready, but when i tried to change worm's expression,i couldn't without affecting ALL the frames.
Fireworks FTW!
Yeah, back-tracking through frames making layers invisible is a pain.
Can Fireworks do pixels? I assumed, given that it Macromedia and all I use of theirs is Flash, that it was all vectors.

Thanks for sommenting :)don't remember if Firefox is affected by it, but some browsers slow down animations so that anything 5/100 of a second or less is changed to 10/100 of a second. to get the top speed, put your frames at 6/100 of a second.

Very nicely done. Like the style, good animation and very nice lighting. An excellent job.

Would they have shown up alright? It's only small, they'd have to be pretty tiny too.

Is that where you've been all this time? Making that?
I mean, it's very good, but it isn't three weeks' work good.
:p
Ha, it took me all of an hour and a half :P
I have been a very busy bunny at work up until now.
Also, the shell casings would have shown up fine as 2 pixels if I antialiased them but I wanted to avoid AA in this piece... so, who knows.

So any plans for other work?
The best laid plans of mice and men...
Again, I think you should do more work.
:p

You'll be pleased to know I'm working on more to make the animation a bit more interesting :)
I'm about 20% through animating the new stuff and then I'll have to try and sort of mush the two animations toge... I've said too much.

I might not have the time to finish this any time soon so here's what I've done tonight. It's not 100% finished but I'm still pretty pleased with it so far.

THAT IS THE SICKEST THING I'VE EVER SEEN IN MY LIFE!!!     But it's cool how it loops though.
Bizarre, and excellently animated.

Very nicely done, excellent looping.
Is he sucking up the blood?
How odd.
Still very good though.

Indeed he is. If only that could really bring you back to life when you die/get shot.
Notice his green skin?
That's because he's an undead worm. Not all worms can revive themselves that way.

Cheers muchly, dude. I only just saw your post :)
Sorry to double post, but I figured it'd be better than starting a new thread...
I've almost finished my animation but I'm having problems with ImageReady and saving as a gif.
I can do it fine, but some of my frames are being drawn in despite me not having them in those frames. It's not like that on other frames, though.
Frame 30-35 all have remaining frames which have been removed in those frames. The rest are fine.
WHY!!??
SupSuper
2 Aug 2006, 20:25
Do you mean the frames getting drawn on top of the previous ones, instead of clearing them before drawing?
Yes, yes I do.
edit: Also, I need it have a transparent background. If I give it a solid background it works fine (obviously). I just don't understand why it clears them late :(
SupSuper
2 Aug 2006, 20:43
That's a common problem in transparent animations, since frames can either be drawn on top of the previous one (to save space) or always cleared and redrawn every frame, and you have to use the proper setting. But I've never used ImageReady, in GMG it's in the frame properties, so let me look...
Ok, when you right-click on a frame, there's a menu that has Automatic, Do not dispose, Restore to background. Try messing with that. I couldn't really test it out because my ImageReady makes every frame the same for some reason.
Aha! Now I remember! I wondered what I'd misclicked when I was trying to change the frame timings on those frames ;)
Many thanks to SupSuper for helping me sort this out:
*full animation*
Brilliant!
The only thing I dont like in that is that the front of the worms is completely straight.
Yeah, it's similar to the way the worms look in Open Warfare.
I wanted to build on that style, adding my own flavour. I like the way the worms look; I didn't want to use anti-aliasing and at that size giving them curves would look less nice.
Cheers though :D

Very nice. They do look a little too far apart though.
Do you think so?
I think if I was a worm and I was up against a self-reviving zombie worm, I'd want to keep my distance a bit.

ah- I was wondering why that worm was falling to peices for no reason.
it looks grand- but maybe the zombie worm should be a little more shaded

it looks grand- but maybe the zombie worm should be a little more shadedwhat is it with this place and shading?! these are sprites! it's not that uncommon for sprites to not have shading on them. also, it can't be a little more shaded when it's not at all shaded right now. there's got to be something to be a little more than :p

Protecting Blasted's Graphics, Aku?lol, gee, thanks :p
and no, I'm not. just saying shading isn't necessary for every single thing under the sun, and not everything is improved with more shading, as seems to be the general opinion around here.
Ahahaha! That is great how you put them together! :D
not everything is improved with more shading
True that.
There is shading on the worm firing the uzi. That's as complex as I wanted to make this piece. It's supposed to be simple and you're supposed to be able to see the pixels.
