View Full Version : land.dat Palette Issue
So I wanted to add a feature to CutWorm that would allow users to generate a full color preview of the map they last played on. This would have the benefit of allowing users to see what map they are copying when they use the map ripper feature. It would also give them the ability to save the maps as colored .bmp files. This could be useful if someone wanted to copy mission maps and for other purposes.
I have the feature working, but I have a problem. I have no idea which file holds the palette for the land.dat file. Does anyone know?
Alright, I found it. I was having trouble finding it because the data was more compressed and looked different from a normal palette.
So it was in Mircosoft's RIFF format? Could you please dump your reasearch notes somewhere in the Worms Knowledge Base (http://wiki.thecybershadow.net/Worms_Knowledge_Base)?
It isn't like your standard .pal file. Each color occupies 3 bytes instead of 4 and goes RGB instead of BGR. How do I add it to that site?
You have to register (completely for free) and then you can edit anything you want on the wiki, including adding new pages. Wiki editing is very simple. If you need help on how to do it, you could look at the source code for existing pages, and if you want to delve into it more, read Wikipedia's help (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Help:Contents). :)
