This is pretty much boring, i always have to do ipconfig in prompt copy/paste it in the configuration thingie before logging into wormnet-_-"
The force IP should do it automatically or? cuz it ain't working here...
Thanks for rplies: )

www.no-ip.org.

Set up a domain, download the software, set your "IP" to whatever you had as your domain, tick the box.

This is something missing from my wahelp page.

What's it all about?

Well, it does exactly what |Chronos| requested. It spares you the trouble of entering your IP manually over and over again, if you have a dynamic IP. I'm using a similar service on www.dyndns.org. A certain program you can download there detects your IP, saves it on their servers and binds it to a domain name you may choose. You then simply enter that domain name where you entered your IP before, and henceforth you'll always be able host to without having to make preparations. ;)

I don't actually use it because I don't need to (I use the domain, just not for worms) but i'm probably getting a router soon so I will use it (though, only use alphanumeric characters in the domain name, no - allowed. I found this out the hard way.)

Huh?
I use a "xxx.no-ip.info" domain and the dash does work in the W:A IP box.
(In the direct IP box too.)

1) You can set whatever values you want and with characters you can't enter for your host by editing %WINDIR%\win.ini
2) Screw no-ip.com, they are useless money suckers. freedns.afraid.org (http://freedns.afraid.org/domain/registry/) has over 30,000 domains to choose from. Their popularity is due to the fact that they allow you to transfer your domain name to their DNS servers (for free, of course) and allow you to update its records just like no-ip/dyndns - so I use home.thecybershadow.net for example :D

2) Screw no-ip.com, they are useless money suckers.I'd like some proof of this. They've worked fine for me and I've only seen one or two ads for their paid services, it's a quick, easy solution - you realise a newbie couldn't use freedns.afraid.org I hope, too.

Edit: Also, I hadn't been on afraid.org for a while so I click the link and... "Warning: mysql_result(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL result resource in /usr/local/freedns/htdocs/domain/domainregistry.php on line 32". That's... professional.

Well, first of all, we are comparing the 20 free domains offered by no-ip to the 7,500 public domains offered by freedns (http://freedns.afraid.org/domain/registry/). The other 25,000 are private - this means you can still register subdomains on that domain, and they start working immediately, but if the domain owner doesn't like your sub-domain he can cancel it any time.

You could also take a look at No-IP's "Plus" and "Enhanced" paid packages. You'll notice that many of those features are also offered by FreeDNS, for free.

Then, there are a lot of ways to update your current IP (http://freedns.afraid.org/scripts/freedns.clients.php). The simplest way to do it is just to open an URL in your browser - the hash inside the URL is used to identify you, and the IP is updated to the Internet IP from where you are requesting the connection. Or, you could modify your Worms shortcut to automatically update the domain name each time you run W:A.

Also, I'm not promoting stuff for newbies - I'm just pointing out the better solution. I realize that there is a minimum IQ level required to use FreeDNS. After all, signing up, then finding a domain in the registry, clicking "add" and filling out a few fields isn't a task everyone can handle. Especially lacking a lustrous site design similar to commercial sites like no-ip.com. But I think it's definitely worth the hassle.

Huh?
I have never seen any advertisments with the free version of no-ip.info.
I never recieved any spam mails either.

That was a bit exagerated.
They charge for stuff you can get for free.
