The IP address would suggest it's an internal deviantart problem.

1. isn't a poor man thing. Seriously. Macs are good for everything but the following:
3D model programs
Games
Other stupid little programs

Macs are perfect for adults that aren't VG developers, yet even adults are obsessed with Windows. *Sigh*

I have a crappy 3D model program, 'cuz I use a Mac and there aren't many good ones out there. Actually, I think it's pretty good, just complicated. Being 12 doesn't really help, either.:p (I HATE being a pre-teen!)

you're basically saying that the only thing a mac is good for is business use...meaning that if you own one at home and have no other computers, it sucks to be you....thereby proving the points stated above

also, I have a rather crappy 3D model I made in Maya that I suppose you could use, except that it has no bone structure, it's not all that great looking, and I don't know what file format you'd need. the only real 3D artists around here worth anything are Dim, Kjatte, and Blendworm, go find one of them somewhere.....good luck though.

Err, there's a lot of 3D modelling apps available for Mac, in fact, certainly in the PowerPC days (and probably in the Intel days, once things settle down), 3D Modelling was one of the Mac's fortés.

For Mac software, check out www.pure-mac.com - you might find some useful stuff there.

And now that I'm here, try to keep Mac flaming to a minimum :p I only just noticed this thread...

Wings3D (http://www.wings3d.com/) is available for Mac. It's a very good, simple and free program.

Edit: I wasn't trying to start a PC vs Mac thing, just made a teh funny.

you clearly have no idea what you're talking about..
macs were designed for artist. the first macs were in use by artist. pixar is property of steve jobs and only uses macs (the CEO from apple)... i use my mac for almost only CGI art...

games, ok, there are less games for mac then for windows. but mac isnt supposed to be a system for gaming. its a system for designing, composing, sharing...

and if you thnk there are almost no apps for macs.. open your eyes! want games? go to macgamefiles.com want 3d model software go to e-onsoftware.com or autodesk.com
and if it is to expensive for you, dont do 3d modelling. i dont think there are any good, free and professional alternatives then blender even for pc's(im not sure though. its been 4 years since i last touched a pc, except from school)

by the way, if you still think windows has better software. use bootcamp and buy an intel mac.

i dont mind, ill be happy with anything, i can also open every format except .max
